Congratulations and welcome to the forum!  The Kool Beach Club is very nice and very popular for tourists.  Which is great but not very private!  It is right next door to the Mamitas Beach Club which is the most popular beach club in Playa del Carmen.  Usually by 9 a.m all the lounge chairs are full and so is that area of the beach.  As mentioned above it is a small location.  However there may be something that really appeals to you about that location so it may work for you.

Best of luck and warmest wishes,

Lori

I had my reception at Kool Beach Club and I can tell you that it was amazing.  The place is gorgeous, the food is delicious, it felt completely private.  Lori is right that during the day it's a very loud, busy, crazy bar, but if you hold an event there at night, the space is all yours.  They provide security so that no one walks up from the beach to join the party, but it certainly wasn't any kind of issue for us.  I don't remember hearing anything from Mamitas...it really felt very secluded.  We had our wedding in March and there is not really a backup rain plan <---which could be an issue for you.  We just crossed our fingers and our rain-plan was "well, we all get wet."  ;)

I have spent a lot of time in Playa (my husband's family owns a place down there) and we took our time finding the right place.  We were married in a villa and we walked through town to Kool.  Obviously, I'm biased, but I thought that we couldn't have picked a better spot...all of our guests agreed.

If you click to #216 of the slideshow below, you can see photos of Kool...it was beautiful!!

Good luck and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!  :)

If it happened to rain, I think you can be ok with the inside part of the restaurant there. Perhaps a little small for a large group but diner could be saved with the covering.

Kool Beach is one of our favorite reception venues. They let people let loose ! Lets not forget this is the venue that hosts one of the largest electronic dance partys in North America ! BPM Festival !

Ou last wedding there had no rain but the wedding party HAD SOOOOO Much fun they all got wet anyways !

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
