The new Paradisus Playa del Carmen (La Perla and La Esmeralda)

Recommended Posts

Anisha,

Very helpful info. I too was there a few weeks ago. Didn't stay, just site visit.  I was curious to the pool / swim-up bar atmosphere on the la esmeralda side?  Is it fun, do they have any activities? Music playing?

Thanks in advance!

I originally wanted to have my wedding on the beach but then saw the GABI bridge and fell in love with it!  If you guys want me to take some pics of the beach when I am there next month, I'd be happy to do so - maybe that would give you a good idea of how large it is.  I know there have been weddings on the beach there and I don't think it is so small that it has been an issue.  If that is what you really want I'm sure you can make it work!

In other news, I've noticed the hotel rates have SKYROCKETED for my dates and I'm super-worried about it!  We haven't even booked our stay for the wedding yet, and we have to do it first before any of our guests, so I'm pretty nervous.  Hopefully they will come down some in the next few months - I can't believe how much they have jumped.  Has anyone else run into this issue at all that might be able to lend some advice?

Hi! Did you ever get to take any pics of the beach? We're interested in this location, but hard to tell how good the beach is from the limited pics on the website. Thank you!

Hi Ladies,

Can anyone share with me whether there were any negative reactions from guests when they discovered/were told the price for the Paradisus La Perla/La Esmeralda? My guests will be all over the economic spectrum, but for those on the lower end, I'm just not sure how much is too much to ask them to pay... bearing in mind that I am hoping they come down for at least 4 nights since I have a lot of activities planned. What were your experiences?

Thanks!

I have had a range of responses from, "That's an amazing deal!" to, "That's really expensive", so I guess this is tough to answer because everyone has a different opinion and bank account. I found that most places that I didn't even come close to liking as much were $50 less per person per night, so for a $50 difference, I didn't see the point in sacrificing what I envisioned as my wedding.  The only thing I could suggest to you is that if there are people who really can't afford it, have them stay somewhere else and pay for day passes for them.  It's really hard having a destination wedding and sacrificing who can come, but unfortunately that's the way it is.  Good luck, and I hope everyone can make it to your wedding! :)

hello BDW,

I am heading down to La Perla next week.

Let me know if I can get any pics, get answers for you.

Hi Tammy, Can you please get pics of Hadar Restaurant (this is where my reception will be held)...I'm trying to envision (in my head) how it will look set up for a wedding (to see if there's ample lighting, with the dj, sweetheart table, cake table, dance area, food stations, etc.). Also, if at all possible, can you get pics of the salon where the hair/makeup is done? I really appreciate any input/help you can provide! Thanks ;)

What I've learned, thus far, is whether or not the resort is $500 or $5 a night, you'll always going to have complainers or those that can't afford it. This process has shown me who my true friends/family really are...quite surprising actually! It's frustrating when for years you bend over backwards for people (financially, time wise, etc.) and then they don't make you a priority for once! And I'm also surprised that some people are more excited than we are LOL!!! I've made the decision to not have a bridal party either (I want all of the attention a:D) because I didn't want anyone to feel forced to come or to come out of pocket for anything other than traveling/accommodations for the wedding itself. At the end of the day this is your wedding, and therefore your vision. I decided to use a travel agent (and might I add, she is fabulous!!!!) so that my guests can break the trip up into installments. In addition, once you reserve your group block, every five rooms paid gets you one free room. So for a few of our guests that really want to be there but they just can't afford it, their hotel stay will be covered and all they have to worry about is roundtrip airfare and airport transportation. As it stands now we have 6 guests how've booked their trip through Expedia and 24 have booked through our travel agent; we're hoping for no more than 40. Remember it's your day! Hope this helps.

Ladies, I need help!  I am confused with the food options.  I am going for my tour and tasting in 2 weeks and was sent the menu options and to choose 2 to try [background--I have the Tailor Made package].  What I am confused about is, for the wedding, do we only get to choose one set menu with no choice for guests?  Trying to get a real understanding.  I can't imagine that it is set for everyone...I couldn't possibly choose a beef dish for everyone when some people would never eat beef and prefer fish.  Then also, I have 2 vegetarians.  If anyone has any insight, please let me know what the deal is!  Thank you!!!

Finally got a response from them.  They want a set menu for everyone, but an exception can be made and yoou can do 2 entrees to choose from , everyone has to have the same app and dessert.   You also have to let them know what everyone is eating, and a seating chart the day of the wedding where which dishes will be served.  Extra step, but I guess better than making everyone eat the same thing which is what they originally said.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
