The new Paradisus Playa del Carmen (La Perla and La Esmeralda)

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies =)

I was wondering if you could offer suggestions...

I am having just a one drink waiter served cocktail party (one drink included is the main point) the first night where I will be distributing the OOT bags.  What I am struggling with is what to call it.  I don't want to call it a cocktail party because I feel people may think they can be served many drinks.  Do you all have any suggestions of what I can say on the invitation to drive the point home that this is only a quick thing?  Maybe "Pre-Dinner cocktail" or "Out of town bag distribution"?  It just sounds so much tackier than "Welcome cocktail reception" or something.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hiya KK :) I would definitely lean towards "wedding name" Meet n Greet or something like this for the title. This way you keep the drinks out of it and any cocktails provided are a pleasant surprise! :)

Hey ladies....I'm wondering how everyone is handling guest rooms for their group. Travel agent? Or did you block rooms through the resort? I'm very confused at how that all works and what the best way to go is!! Thanks. Jess
We are using our beloved Janice Shortier of Destination Wedding Store and Perfect Honeymoon. She is our wedding planner and travel agent and new family friend :). We found her from an article she was featured in the Destination Wedding Magazine. Her email address is - Janice at destinationweddingstore dot com :)

When I went down for an initial visit, I was told by the wedding planner several things were included and even though I had two children coming to the wedding I would be allowed an exception to have my reception on the Perla side. and by the time I had my official visit, EVERYTHING was an extra charge and now I was not allowed to be on the adult side with kids.  Sometimes I regret booking here. They are so much more expensive than any other resort in Mexico: from Gabi bridge fees, per plate charge, per person in the packages to flowers, decor, etc. The people who work there are super nice but it's been frustrating at times to have them stick to their word. GET everything in writing, word means nothing there. During my site visit, for some reason they forgot to include cake in the food tasting.  So I was told I could schedule it day before the wedding. *sigh*
Wow... Gabi Bridge fees? Does that depend on the package?

Hi Ladies,

We are all booked for November 23, 13!!  We are actually going for our site visit to meet vendors and food tastings on March 3rd.

We went with the Aqua Package with ceremony on Gabi Bridge, Cocktail Hour & Reception at Gabi Club.  Welcome party and Rehearsal dinner are pending, waiting to hear back from Miami office.  We are having a bit of a larger group, we are thinking about 140 guests.  So, deciding on where the welcome party and rehearsal dinner are held is a bit of a challenge.  I'm also debating now if we should change to the Taylor made - if it makes sense since we are having a bigger group. The Aqua package might end up costing that once we are done adding extras with the welcome party etc.  IDK...

Can anyone tell me the names of the vendors the hotel uses?  Is it just Blue Lens? And is that who their Video is through too?

Also, has anyone gone to the site visit yet? If any of you have advice or suggestions of what I should ask while I'm there, that will be very helpful.

I'm starting to stress, like I need to prep for my pre-wedding visit.  :(

Thanks girls!

Congrats!  You will be getting married 2 weeks before me!  I did the Taylor Made package (we are expecting 100 guests), Gabi bridge ceremony, Gabi Club cocktail/reception.  I didn't compare it to other packages, because I just assumed that it would be a lot more to do a la carte.  Though not 100% sure.

I did my site visit, but was totally unprepared.  It was so far out that I didn't feel any pressure.  I am going to try to go again before the wedding.  They did guide me through most of the information.  I would just take your time looking at all of the locations, and definitely take lots of pictures.  Make sure you see the bridal suite!

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
