The new Paradisus Playa del Carmen (La Perla and La Esmeralda)

@@Matt Adcock We actually got everything straightened out!  After the initial shock of what happened and the effect it would have on our wedding, the resort and its team were extremely helpful, understood the stress associated with the change and we were able to move forward past this issue and get back to planning our special day.  The Romance Department came through and we were very pleased with and thankful for the attention they gave to resolving this issue.  Our wedding will now be the next day on April 17th which hopefully won't impact too many of our guests.  We are both just extremely happy to put that all behind us and can honestly say that we have been impressed with the manner in which the resort and the Romance Department handled this matter.  (BTW...the smaller venue they mentioned was the gazebo).

@@NG1515 OH YEAY.    That is good news.   Yeah, at first it did sound kind of heavy but happy to hear they tweaked the situation and there was a plan B that works for the group.

I shot the first wedding ever at paradisus in that Gazebo.  All the venue spots there have their own charm but equally are different.   Good to hear things came together in the end... grass is greener ;)

ON THE TOPIC of vendor fees for Paradisus (Which for any vendor, is 1000$ USD wowsa). We would like to announce at this time, the 1000 USD Vendor Fee does NOT apply for del Sol Photography when you contact us first, ask about our packages the hotel is providing our clients.  It works like a referral relationship.

We have been doing some commercial work for the hotel and have negotiated to NOT have a VENDOR FEE.

Anyway, I figured this information would be worthwhile to mention.  ON top of NO Vendor FEE,  we have the chance to offer brides incentives that can not be found on the internet coupling a photographer + the resort booking...  check the del Sol Photography + Paradisus Incentives out:

Past brides & fellow forum users, I have a few questions:

- I heard the resort offers activities during the day (such as wine tasting, cocktail making, etc.). Does anyone have a picture of a past activities schedule that you can share with me (or any recollection of activities schedule would be great)?

- Dinner reservations: I have decided not to pay for Royal Service. Does anyone know if it is difficult to make reservations for dinner on the day of or does it have to be booked way ahead of time?

- Anyone have the resort room reservation's email address that you are willing to share with me?

Thank you so much...

Hi All. Getting married April 2, 2016 (less than 5 months) and I guess I am getting a little overwhelmed with all that we have left to do and overwhelmed with how and where I should be in the planning process. We have a photographer booked, but I am just confused and anxious with allllll the information for the decor and flower aspect. We have the tailormade package and it says all of these things are included, but when I go to the sites that they provide to choose decor and flowers, it looks like everything is just added costs. I just feel all over the place. Can someone help me with ANY advice/suggestions on how to organize all this information and hopefully make planning a tad more easy/organized?

Thanks so much!

I got married at Paradisus earlier this year with about 75 guests.  In response to some of the above questions:

Dinner Reservations:  For the most part our guests didn't have any issue getting reservations the day of.  If one restaurant was booked, usually there was room at a different restaurant.  That being said, once you get your wedding coordinator who is on-site at the resort (I think like 30 days before your wedding), you can make reservations ahead of time through her.  We made a 35-person reservation one night for all of our friends at Bana, and another 35-person reservation one night for family at The Grill.  They have side areas in the restaurant to seat that many people.  So just wait until you have your resort wedding coordinator and then you can do the reservations through her.  My husband and I also made reservations for just the two of us through our coordinator.  I was stressed out about reservations at first but it came together fine once we were closer to our wedding date and were in touch with the resort directly.

Flowers and Deocrations:  I also was very frustrated with figuring out the decor.  The resort switched vendors around the time I was getting married, so I was shuffled between two different companies.  I did the "Chill Out Chic" package and kept my decor and flowers pretty minimal (flowers are ridiculously expensive), but I did not have the decorations set in stone until just a couple of weeks before the wedding.  Not sure if that was becuase of the vendor change or if that is the norm.  Regardless, once we got down there, it was clear that the company had all of our information and we met with them once or twice and I was not worried about it at all.  They did try to charge me for chairs ($5/chair) which I pushed back on because I was told the basics (like chairs and tables) were included.

My main point: I was stressing about how everything would come together for several months before my wedding, but it all eventually did, just not really until I was set up on the resort's wedding coordinator and could talk to her directly about a month out.  Once we down there they had it all under control and it was great!  The resort does weddings every weekend so I don't think they really pay much attention to your wedding until you are a month or two out, which sucks for us, but it did truly come together like I wanted it to.

Yes, I am getting married April 2nd and received the same sort of emails. I Am anxious to know what happened, but I feel like it has to be something serious. I am in the process of getting our full refund from wedding day story. The new vendor, Outdoor photos has amazing reviews and great prices. All the emails and going back and forth from our wedding coordinator and wedding day story was really stressing me out so I didn't ask many questions...

I hear ya. I too didn't want to ask many questions. On a positive note, Wedding Day Story issued our refund promptly and we are in the process of booking with Del Sol Photo. We are getting married on April 1 and even though this hiccup could have been worse, it's not something I wanted to deal with at just under 4 months out...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
