The new Paradisus Playa del Carmen (La Perla and La Esmeralda)

Heyy.....we invited a little over 200, although probably expecting around 75 realistically. We chose the aqua package, but I'm changing the decor since aqua is not my color.  No deals have been made, and every change is a charge.  We are still super excited and in major planning mode!  Let me know what you decide :)

Hey Paradisus brides! We sent in our paperwork and are waiting for our confirmation (April 2015). We are planning to go visit this summer and pick a reception space after seeing the rooms in real life :)

Hi Ladies,

I'm having my wedding at the Paradisus in Playa del caremen on May 16, 2015.  For those who are in the process of planning a wedding there, are you having any issues with viewing what Alquimia Events has to offer?  I don't see many photos on their website and when clicking on the portfolio page the pictures do not load.  Any suggestions or tips?

Thanks,

Anna

Hi Everyone! I am considering a 2015 wedding at Paradisus Playa del Carmen. I was wondering if someone could give me an idea of the extra costs. If I do the Allure package with 60 guests, does the $120/per guest (beyond 34 guests) cover everything? i.e. food, alcohol, additional tables and chairs? It would be so helpful to know!

Thanks, Ashley

Hello, I am in the process of planning my wedding for October 2014 at the Paradisus!  I couldn't view much at Alquimia Events either, but had the advantage of being able to do a site visit and talk with Perla in person.  She is great and very reasonable.  She had a ton of pictures when I visited and now we are in the process of sending pictures back and forth of what I have in mind and how much it would cost!  Fair warning, it is really high wedding season for them so her response is not very quick right now.

The $120/per quest does cover everything additional required.  It does not however cover any additional decorations, i.e. flowers, drapes, lights and so forth.  It does cover food, alcohol, tables and chairs!  We ended up going with the Tailor Made package once we compared cost of everything side by side.

Thanks,

Cat

@@asabatino Alquimia has a Facebook page with a ton of pictures of what they've done. Also, I'm pretty sure that all the pictures sent to us by Paradisus feature the work of Alquimia as well. The decor looks great - it looks like they know what they're doing!

@@aferr15 yes the additional per person cost covers everything. From what I was told, the packages include tax already but the additions are subject to a high tax. That's why we also are going with a package (tailor made) rather than a la carte.

We are hoping to go there for a visit this summer. I'm having difficulty choosing a reception space. Have you ladies chose your space? I picked gabi bridge for ceremony but it's tough for me to pick the reception location based on pictures.

Thanks @@Catfoxinabox and @@zillakas for your insight!

@@zillakas - I haven't selected locations since I am still considering other resorts. I am going to visit Paradisus and Dreams Riviera Cancun in June. I'm nervous that the dates I like will book up before then but the deposit is nonrefundable :(

Did you visit any other resorts?

Does anyone have a sample budget that shows that tailor made is a better option than allure?

@@aferr15 I didn't visit any but I was also very interested in dreams riviera cancun. The ceremony location overlooking the cliff looks amazing. However, our travel agent found out that their rooms are old and in need of a renovation so we didn't look further into it. Dreams has some good packages though.

As far as the tailor made package, it just includes more. It has the welcome party the day before and I think some more decor included. If you feel like you don't need those things then you probably don't need the tailor made package. But it wouldn't be smarter to add those options a la carte because you would then have to pay some ridiculous taxes.

I would also worry about the date being booked. We sent in our paperwork last week and are still waiting for a confirmation of the date (fingers crossed). I hope there won't be more than one wedding on that date!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
