YEAH,  here is another del Sol wedding at La Esmeralda.  This client was actually married at the chapel on 5th (A Coptic Ceremony)  and did a streetwalk down the avenue for a few blocks and then transported the party to the resort in a van.

I like that the reception setup for Monica and David's wedding reception was actually in the same Palapa where Inna's wedding was... so its a nice contrast to see this venue setup ready for a reception...

Hi,

Sorry this review is late, this is a long one.......We got married at Paradisus La Esmeralda on 7-7-12 and it was absolutely everything I hoped for and more. When we booked our wedding in July 2011, we were the FIRST couple to book a wedding at the resort in Playa Del Carmen sight unseen and still under construction! It was the best decision we made. If your considering this resort, trust me, you have nothing to worry about. Work with VERONICA at Paradisus head office in Miami.  Once you arrive,  your on sight team of wedding planners; Ana and Myrna are wonderful, just explain your vision and let them help you make it into a reality. So, here are some tidbits about the wedding:

First, the resort itself is absolutely beautiful, the rooms are spacious, clean, and modern and the service is outstanding.  From the moment we arrived and throughout our stay everyone was super friendly, courteous, and helpful.   Our room was upgraded to a swim up suite, but we decided we liked the master suite better so we simply switched rooms - no problem.  Our family and friends loved it.  Everyone was given wrist bands that identified that they were a group attending a wedding and we, Bride and Groom, were given white and silver ones, so everywhere we went at the resort, people would wish us well and pretty much give us whatever we asked for. Everyone was treated like VIPs the entire time.   The food........wait until you taste the food... Delish with a capital D.  Bana, The Market, and Vento were our favorites.  Even at our wedding, my husband and his groomsman requested two entrees and they got them, no problem at all.

Wedding package - AQUA

1) Hair and Makeup - Included in the package, I only got makeup done, Veronica did an outstanding job, it lasted and I didn't look like a stranger in the mirror - too overdone.  It was me, just an improved version and I liked that, she had all name brand makeup, I was concerned, but no worries, she has it all.

2) Ceremony - On the Gabi Bridge leading to the beach at 5 pm. Cocktail hour at 6 pm and dinner/dancing 7-10.

3) Flowers/decor - Perla at Alquimia - For some reason fresh flowers are expensive in Mexico, but work directly with Perla and she will work with you..Make sure you have an idea of what you want, send pics. Give her an idea of your budget and all you want included and she will work her magic.

4)Cocktail Hour/Reception - Held in Hadar. Perfect location - Private and air conditioned, it was very hot outside and the mosquito's were out in full force. I brought programs, fans, menus, and maracas with me, incorporated all of them. Note: I was re-thinking the maracas but in the end very glad I brought them with me so I didn't need to worry about going into town to buy them and negotiating...one less thing to worry about. All of  our guests enjoyed them.

5) Photographer - Blue Lens - Martina is great to work with. Pics came out great, just wish I had time to take more of them

6)DJ - We used an off site vendor - DJ Dorrimixx - Elio was a ROCK STAR, he kept everyone on the dance floor and even gave out props which everyone loved. I chose Dorrimixx because of pricing and their 5 our schedule, they handled the music from the ceremony through cocktail hour and reception.

7) Cigar roller - I am so glad that we did this, everyone loved the cigars, we paid for 1 hour and 30 cigars and we had none left! Well worth the $

8) After party held at the Lobby Bar, we pretty much took it over as there is not much going on at the resort after 10 pm.  DJ in the lobby played whatever we wanted until 2 am.

Here are a few pics...Top is Ana and Myrna - My heroes!  Second is me and Hubby, I will add a few professional pics shortly.

Hey Kbell! You look so beautiful/happy on your wedding day! I'm so glad to hear that everything turned out well. I can't wait to see your pictures from Blue Lens Caribe (I booked with them too). If you don't mind my asking, what did they charge for the centerpieces (I know that's one of the major things they don't include in the package)?. Also, did they charge you to set up additional items (like favors, fans, cake topper, etc.)? Lastly, how was the temperature during your 5pm ceremony, and were the mosquitos really bad during the ceremony (while on the bridge)? Thanks for all your help!!!!!

Kbell, sorry to inundate you with questions, but I have a couple more. Which package did you choose for Blue Lens Caribe (wondering if the Royal-5 hrs of coverage-is enough)? P.S. we're not having a bridal party. Also how much was the cigar roller for cocktail hour (did you get him thru Paradisus)? Also, I know you had your reception inside, but we wanted to do the Palapa (poolside gazebo at La Perla), were you able to see the poolside area...did it look nice? We were thinking about doing the fireworks show at the end of the reception...thoughts? Lastly, I read your post about guests backing out at the last minute...how far in advance should the RSVP date be (b/c I know the final deposit is due 45 days before)? I'm just worried about last minute ppl and having to deal with that when we get to the resort! Thanks a million again!!!!

Hi ladies!!

I am sooo excited there have been some updates on this thread!! I am one week away from calling Veronica back and putting down my deposit for our wedding here - thinking mid June 2013!!!

First off, Veronica from the Paradisus Miami office, as many have said, is absolutely amazing!! She has been so amazingly helpful and given me so much information regarding all the ins and outs of the packages and menus, etc - as well I have a complete price list from Blue Lens Caribe - if anyone needs any of that information please just send me a private message and I would be happy to forward any information I have!

I'm thinking about the "Aqua" package - mostly because that's the package which offers a sit-down dinner, and my parents did not want a buffet for dinner, and then changing the decor to match the colour scheme we originally wanted. Does anyone have any more photos to share? Or centrepiece ideas - I know I don't have the pricing from Perla at Alquimia, but was hoping for a rough idea!

For photographers, I'm still deciding between Blue Lens or del Sol - I have emailed Blue Lens a few times to try and get an exact quote for what I am looking for, but I keep getting just a generic response - lets just say it is a little more than frustrating!

I'm so glad that everyone has such positive things to say about this resort - I will say so far the prices I have been quoted for my guests is a little high considering it's the middle of June, but with everyone's glowing reviews I can tell it will be well worth it!!!

So excited to to have my wedding at the Paradisus, my fiance and I are just blown away by the photos and reviews we have read!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
