The new Paradisus Playa del Carmen (La Perla and La Esmeralda)

Recommended Posts

Just came back from a "site inspection' at Esmeralda (3 nite min stay which they deduct the value off your wedding stay if you decide to book your wedding there). It was really really beautiful, the wedding planner Ana Garcia was nice. Some things that I questioned/ concerns I had: if you ask to slightly alter anything from a package there's is always a fee, which I guess I understand but when that fee is called into question, it seems there's never a direct answer. Didnt like that. After my initial meeting with the WC I was left with the numbers questions... How much to switch ivory rose bouquet to pink? Did children pay as much as adults? How much for table runners? I had to double back the next day with a firmer attitude to get the #s I needed. Lower scores for me: I didn't like the massive wooden gazebo. Didn't like the hotel signs on the beach that supposedly get camouflaged for the wedding. The indoor banquet facilities are huge and dark ( not suitable for small parties under 100). The alternative is paying a small fortune to have it at the 2 restaurants they reserve usually only for bad weather circumstances. The florist the hotel recommends is super nice but i got my quote through email when i got back and damn for the rough selection of flowers for my october wedding i found it expensive (gave me a quote of $49 for a simple boutinerre and over $600 for one hanging piece of fabric with rose petals stuck to it...ridic to me). Other things to consider: I was personally told that only two pools were heated, both pertain to the royal service customers. With respect to that royal service, we never really utilized it to its full potential so for us it was a waste of $$. We had a butler yet always arranged our restaurant reservations. Our room came with booze yet we never touched it. The only thing we used was the heated pool and 'la palapa' restaurant reserved for this status. On site photographers are online at www.bluelenscaribe.com if you want to get quotes prior to your visit. I found them 'un poco caro' too This hotel should really book more entertainment at night. We missed everything but ten again there was always just one thing/night and it never lasted long. Definite pluses: It's new and very clean! The (highlight) staff couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating!!! Five stars for sure here! They did offer us a good discount for a block reservation though: it was like for every 10 rooms we would get a free one ( which we were going to use for our own photographer ..a good help). We got a couples massage at the Spa of 125 min for a $279 special.. It was nice. The beach tho short was nice. We loved ALL the restaurants except the Brazilian style rodizzio.

Hello Brides,

I too am looking at booking my wedding in 2013 at Paradisus (Ceremony on bridge to beach behind the Gabi club & Reception by the pool on La Esmerelda side). I visited the hotel on March 13th and must admit I fell in LOVE! It is gorgeous - clean, modern, and has a great layout. Throughout our tour my FI and I couldn't find much to complain about. The pools are large and clean, the beach is not too far, the staff was extremely friendly as was Ana and Myrna the WC's, the restaurants and SPA were beautiful (although we were not given the option to try anything - breakfast, etc). We were given tours of all the rooms, except for the standard room which I wanted to see most as they claimed they did not have any available. They provided a lot of information regarding the packages, flowers, photography, welcome bags but could not provide room rates (which I am still waiting for). I love this hotel but I fear it will be too expensive. Has anyone received group rate information for 2013 yet?

Sounds beautiful. I also was looking into this resort but I had to nix that idea. I was quoted by $764 pp for 3 nights in a jr. suite, which i think is there standard room and that's without flights. Any additional night what $231 pp. Im bummed about it but I couldn't ask my guest to pay that much.

Hello Ladies, Thanks for all the information. We put our deposit down already for an April 2013 wedding. My mother and I are taking a "girls" trip for mother's day to go inspect. We want o get married on the beach-did it look pretty good for this? Also, is anyone having a DJ? If not, what are you doing for music for the reception? Thanks

I went down in February for a site visit and they didn't offer a beachside wedding at that time. The beach area is quite small and they were still trying to figure out where they could hold the wedding. They were thinking at the very end but they needed a way to get the bride there without having to walk so far. Perhaps they figured it out by now.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
