The new Paradisus Playa del Carmen (La Perla and La Esmeralda)

Recommended Posts

I am not sure about prices however I do know that an adult can go to either side of the two resorts. Childred however are only allowed in some restaurants in the middle and the family resort. I am not sure if you had a wedding on one side or private event if they would allow children on the event site even if it was adults only but I would think not.

I'm going to La Perla the 26th of this month for a visit. I will say that the US based wedding dept for paradisus has been less than professional. However, the resort based coordinator, Myrna, is wonderful. She's organized, proactive and very quick to respond to emails. If I decide to book my wedding here, I will do everything through her. The US based team, especially Laura, seemed too focused on getting their commission rather than providing good service.

@ Jules, yes they still have the love at first site package. However, it's more expensive than the Punta Cana resorts. I'm using it towards the first 3 nights of my trip and then am paying the regular rate for the remaining two nights. I have all of the prices and documents from the resort of you like. PM me.

I'm going on Thursday to check it out and I'll let you know. I've read some good and bad reviews as well. Of course the bad one's scare me. I'm assuming since it's so new, they haven't done a wedding there yet. One of the recent reviews that frightened me was that the neighborhood outside the resort looks really bad and that the staff told them to be careful if taking a taxi out of the resort but that they'd be safe within the resort. I don't want our guests to be scared driving in! It's bad enough they are already freaked out about Mexico in general.

Hi Ladies,

I know it has been a while since this thread was started, but my fiance and I have tentative plans to marry at this resort on September 21, 2012.  We were previously set on Dreams Riviera Cancun, but when I came across this resort, I too was floored and had to look into it further.  My work schedule is crazy, so I sent my fiance (didnt have to twist his arm!) to check out Paradisus as well as Dreams; he is there right now, but has already told me that the resort is AMAZING!  He will be back tomorrow with a ton of pics, which I will be happy to share :)

From what I've seen, the big drawback here is that it is a 100 yard walk to the beach via a wooden "boardwalk", and the mangroves block the view except for from the top two floors.  Also, if you purchase a package, there are several sites that are included, but the really good ones require an extra per person fee that can really add up (I am most interested in the Gabi bar for a reception site; it is open to children, but requires an extra fee).  I would be happy to send the package information I have received so far to anyone interested; just send me an email address.

Also, to answer a few questions that I had myself:

Most of the restaurants allow children and adults, but have cut off times for children.  There are a few bars that are adults only.  If you chose an adults only location, children would not be allowed.  This is a concern for us as my two children will be attending, but from what I understand there are plenty of options.

Also, the fiance says the pools are all heated, including the pools that have the swim up suites.  It seems that these arent used so much,  and if you want privacy, a high floor is better and more secluded.

So thats it for now; so excited for him to return tomorrow and give me all of the info!

Hi Mrs.Barrastobe!

I too am planning to get married at the Dreams Riv. Cancun. My best friend just informed me about the Paradisus and now considering this resort. My fiance will be thrilled to know that the pools are heated as it's one of his top five for resort choices! lol. Please let me know how they are with choices of wedding packages and if they will negotiate with prices. We have about 80 guests and including children. I got to go down in Dec. to see the Dreams and fell in love with it and now I guess I am going to be comparing with the Paradisus.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
