Considering Riu Palace Riviera Maya

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

My fiance and I are planning on getting married in the Mayan Riviera in February 2013. We haven't decided on a resort yet, but RPRM is number 1 in the running. I just have a few questions that perhaps anyone who had their wedding there could help me with.

My fiance's friends can be a bit unruly at times and I want to make sure that the resort is big enough that our more low key guests won't have to be around them all the time. Is the resort large enough so that no one gets sick of seeing each other?

I've noticed that there isn't a disco and am wondering if the discos at the sister resorts are close enough that we could walk there and back, even if some of our group has been imbibing a bit.

How easy and expensive is it to have a private dinner and reception?

Any help you could give would be incredibly appreciated.

I attended a wedding at the Riu Santa Fe one and a half years ago. The Santa Fe is a sister resort immediately next door to the Palace. If you have people in your party that like to 'party' I would suggest you recommend they check out the Santa Fe which seems to be a younger crowd then the Palace. The Santa Fe does have a disco, it is pretty disappointing, but if you have enough drinks and group of good friends I'm sure you'll manage to have a good time just like I did.

Oops, correction, the wedding I attended and the Santa Fe were in Los Cabos Mexico. My most recent trip (where I got engaged) was in the Mayan Riviera, we stayed at the Riu Tequila directly across the road from the Palace. The Tequila has the same type of disco, definitely within walking distance. There are a few sister resorts surrounding the Palace that your friends will be able to go to, again the sister resorts having more of a younger crowd.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
