Trouble deciding between The Royal in Cancun and The Royal in Playa del Carmen AND other questions

Hi all,

 

I'm a newbie and recently engage. I've been lurking BDW for a couple of months reading advice on destinations and vendors. I mus say you ladies are very resourceful. I'm looking to get married at the end of April in Riviera Maya or Cancun. I think I've narrowed it down to The Royal based off of past bride reviews and TripAdvisor ratings. I'm trying to find a good balance of luxury, service, food, and of course wedding services! The Royal seems to fit the bill but now I cannot choose between Cancun and PDC. For those that have been to both locations, what are the pros and cons of each?

 

I'm looking for a great beach, fun activities at the resort including some night activities, and nice areas outside the resort. Some people that have been in the area say stay on the resort period but I don't want my guests to be trapped there the entire time. Is it not safe?

 

Also, I chose the end of April because the weather should be stable and it will be after the universities' spring break and before graduation. Can someone confirm that it's a good time to go?

Hi Geisha!!!

 

I was recently married at the Royal In cancun on 6/21/11!! I was also engaged a year before the wedding at the royal in cancun during our vacation there.........What can i say, it is a BEAUTIFUL resort! the food, service, rooms, beach, pool is amazing! my guests all LOVED it and cant wait to go back......this was my second time in cancun and I love the area.....never did i not feel safe......the clubs are literally down the street.....there are shopping plazas, restaurants etc all near there........I have pasted some very resouceful threads from both the royal in cancun and in PDC.......I used the PDC thread every day! even though I was not a PDC bride, but all of the rules apply to both hotels, so it's great to read it!

 

I do not have my pro pics yet, but here are a few!!! PLEASE PM me with any questions you may have........I would recommend the Royal in Cancun to everyone!!!

Also, as far as activities, there are shows at night every night at the Royal in cancun.......and during the day at the pool area...........the beach is absolutely beautiful and HUGE!!!

 

I've only been to Cancun in Mid-June so i cannot comment on the weather in April....BUT i know that it's absolutely gorgeous around that time of year, as i've read many many reveiws and seeing pics of brides married in apri-may!

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else.
