Great story Coco YUL and welcome aboard!  I was in the same boat as you trying to find a nice 4.5 - 5 star resort with a decent price.  I was originally aiming for Jan - Mar 2012, however I quickly realized that the prices didn't fit within our guests budget.  I opted for May 2012 instead and got (what I thought) was a really good price for the Ocean Coral & Turquesa in Puerto Morelos, Mexico (just south of Cancun).  For November I'm certain you'll be able to find somewhere perfect for your day!

We're fully booked and our STD's went out in June...now I'm just anxiousl waiting for people to start booking with our TA, lol.  We also just booked our photographer too! Wohoo!  Oh and my first wedding dress fitting is at the end of August!  Here's hoping that it needs to be taken in cheers.gif

I always knew that I wanted to get married... took me a long time to find the one but with patience I did :) For the past few months, I've been thinking about what to do... when... etc etc... Also, my BF doesn't like to be the center of attention... since it's our day, I want him to be confortable and happy with our decision :)

We are not really engaged (we're French Cannadian and it's not a thing that French Canadian guys do "to propose") so it's two grown ups with a dog and a house (still doing renos) who decided to get married :) AND I'M SSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPPPPY...

We love to travel and I knew for a long time that I wanted to get married on the beach... but knew the legal marriage in Mexico, DR, Cuba was complicated... Also, it was important for his mom to be there and my mom too... ssssssssssoooooooooooooo... We're getting legally married here in Montreal and having a little reception at a restaurant after so family members who won't be able to make it for our DW will still be part of the celebration... AND doing the DW with a little more glamour on the beach... It's simple, there's a little something for everybody and why celebrate 1 day when you can do it for a week :)

I would love to do it in November 2012, 1st it's our 5 years anniversary in November + his Bday + my Bday :) 2nd it's cheaper in November...

Still looking for the resort (if you have any suggestions) probably in the  MR or Cancun, free wedding package, no fee for single, great beach and min 4 1/2 * and affordable for our guest :)

Girls... I can't tell you who excited I AM about all this... he's the best thing that never happen to me... and so happy with our decision to do it that way...

Sorry it was a long one :P

Tori- About your post for moores and linen... they do not carry linen suits :( I tried with them already, their light suits were still a bit to heavy for my FI's likings (mind you, hes worse than me when it comes to being picky).... I ended up having to order them from studio suits.

@ Tori - Celtic girl is right - no linen. Their really nice lightweight suits (I think they are 100+ thread count) start at around $400, and they would be the only ones light enough. My FI and I prefer the look of these to linen. Even if you don't pick up a suit there, you could pick up dress shirts, ties, dress socks, etc at 50% off!

Hi girls,

Thought I'd better join this forum as well as I have a whole lot more chatting to do before I can access all of your great attachments!

A couple of weekends ago my cousin got married during one of the heat waves to hit the province this summer.  Her now-husband was so cute...the boys were all dying in their suits...one was turning red and we thought he'd pass out before the ceremony was over.  But, all I could think of while the groom kept repeatedly mopping his forehead with his hand (sometimes wiping it on his pants, sometimes just reaching back out for my cousin's hands), was "ughhhh...note to self, get Todd a small cotton handkerchief to tuck into his pocket for the ceremony"!  Does this seem reasonable to you ladies?

I think that is very reasonable!!!  :) that is a great idea! infact on Etsy, they have a lady who makes hankerchiefs personalised for the groom, groomsman, bride etc... they are just plain white.. so that might be an idea too?

So it seems all of the FI's are wearing suits?! My FI is just wearing a white Guayabera shirt, and either white, or ligtan linen pants.. ( we bought one pair of each and he can decide later.. as it makes no difference to me.. whichever he prefers and feels most comfy in). and then the groomsman are in tan linen pants and then a guayabera shirt in turquoise blue.

I figured us bein canadian and used to the cool weather that suits might be just too dman hot for them! hahaha and we wanted to keep it simple lol

Luvmoo,

We felt like we hit the lottery this spring...Todd HATES shopping, but was up one afternoon for looking around the men's stores to see what we could find for his wedding outfit.  The first place we went to was The Bay (of all places!)...but we found him the most amazing white Tommy Bahama linen shirt (Guayabera style) with beautiful but very subtle white embroidery down the front panels (I think the shirt was called "Groom with a View") and some sandy-coloured Tommy Bahama linen pants.  He'll wear a pair of dark brown leather sandals which he had custom made in Italy a couple of years ago when we were in Positano.  Perfect for him!

Wanted to share with everyone that old navy/the gap/banana republic has a pretty good sale going on right now.  The linen pants from old navy are under $15 a pair!!!!!!

I am going to the store (hopefully they're in stock) to check them out today before we order them.  The banana republic ones come to about $32 which still isn't bad!  Banana republic also has suits on sale.

Just thought if anyone is still looking to get their guys linen pants (we need them for our GM) that this would be a great deal!  I found linen REALLY hard to find in stores this summer!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
