Oh awesome, I would have never thought Le Chateau would have linen. We'll check out West Ed tonight!

Hi all Canadian brides to be (or past brides!)

I am wondering how you guys have made out with finding suits for your men and their groomsmen. My fiancé tried on some suits this weekend (we are planning a wedding for early-ish 2014) at Mexx, etc. and it got me thinking about how others may have found this process!

I was pretty thrilled he wanted to try on stuff so early, love it! ;)

Anyways, how did you guys go about choosing your suits? I found that a lot of the regular stores (e.g. Moores, Tip Top, etc) don't have tons of light colored suits (e.g. beige/light grey) and was wondering about ordering online, etc.

Also, did you ladies have a preference for what color the groom wore? My fiancé was thinking beige/linen color but I know he may change his mind on this. I guess I just wanted to see how other people also went about discussing the whole suit idea!

Hi MrsShoreytobe! My fiancé got the most beautiful Hugo Boss suit from Holt Renfrew. They have tons of great men's clothes. Perhaps you will find something there?

Kissta, I saw your comment on my picture, the purple vase in the background was my centre piece, the teal bottle in the front of the picture was our bottle we put out for people to sign our guestbook, it was a message in a bottle theme. We took everything with us. For the centrepieces it was a glass vase with purple cellophane scrunched inside it, filled with water and then the top was a chiffon flower (handmade by me off a tutorial online) with a purple LED light hot glued to the bottom of the flower and when turned on it casted a purple glow into the vase! I originally tried to do fake flowers with the light on them but I liked the chiffon ones too much so I went with them! **If you want a vase with the look of pebbles or something in it this cellophane was the way to go when travelling! No one had a clue what was in the vases (it appeared to be broken glass) and they all complimented me on them!

We went to West Ed last night, and there wasn't much left in the selection for the linen. We were feeling pretty rushed (mall was about to close) so we didn't get anything. If they had a better return policy (no returns, exchange only) we would have bought something and tried it on at home and thought about it a bit more. I just don't know what we would do with a $400 Le Chateau credit.

My FI likes the light khaki colour, but I think I prefer grey. Guess it doesn't really matter that much to me though. Will sleep on it and go back if needed, just no guarantee there will be his size!

They looked absolutely beautiful! Very impressive! I am just concerned about traveling with the glass, you found this was ok?

I have 15 tables to decorate for so hoping to find items for centrepieces that are light and travel well!

I truly appreciate your response and your tables looked so beautiful!! :)

Thanks! i love to help out, just celebrated lur 6 month marriage anniversary, time is flying by but it still feels like we were married yesterday! I was concerned about it, ALL of our wedding stuff went on the plane with us in carry ons. My hubby and I each had one plus our outfits and my brother carried one for us as well. It was like Jenga packing everything lol! I bought bubble wrap at Walmart and wrapped each one individually and they were all safe! Check with your resort, as well, as I have heard resorts will sometimes rent vases to people for $5 a piece or so. We were married at the Barcelo and I found out that they rented vases but we decided to just go with our own from home. The vases we bought were $2.99 each at ikea.

First off, CONGRATULATIONS! Time does fly!!

Great tip! Thanks! I was just nervous about traveling with the glass, thus I have been looking EVERYWHERE for pretty, coloured, acrylic vases and have found nothing! I am going to show my mother (my wedding planner lol) your pic and see if she likes the idea vs. our plastic idea. I am having no luck with the plastic vases. My mother's girlfriends and my aunts have all offered to use their carry-ons for my stuff!

It is a nice idea that your resort rented vases. I am getting married at the Paradisus Punta Cana and they charge a crazy amount for centrepieces or to just borrow anything!

Truly appreciate your insight! Thank you :)

Oh that's right, they still don't do returns...I remember the days of shopping at le chateau and seriously never understood why they ONLY had exchanges, that's ridiculous! Fiance comes home from Fort Mac today so I hope we can check out a le chateau to at least browse! Did you end up deciding on the suit (khaki/grey)?

This looks great! Thank you for the suggestion. We went to Zara a few wks back and my gosh the skinny leg pant is quite in right now! lol. It's not my FI's style though. Your man's pants look fairly straight leg though, did you find the suit in store or order online and get it fitted?

Just to show you how we incorporated the colours... (I love sharing because I did a ton of DIY stuff and was so proud of it all)

Here were my shoes:

Our entire party:

Cheers!! Happy Planning!

LOVE IT! and you SHOULD BE PROUD girl! :) I love those two colors so much; my bouquet will have peacock feathers in it and I may have some other peacock ideas in the party, but in general, we aren't doing a super theme I suppose. But purple and turquoise are a must lol... Suits and the colors look awesome!

For grooms/groomsmen outfits has anyone tried Tommy Bahama? They have tons of different styles of linen pants, and shirts and a whole wedding line. We are looking at that for my fiancée and groomsmen, I didn't even realize that they had a store at cross iron mills!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
