You are probably looking for a 4 star resort.  Try the RIU resort chain.  They have 3-5+ star resorts.  I've stayed at a bunch of their 5 star and always had a great time.  Some of their properties have more than one hotel on site so guests can stay at whichever one suits their budget if you prefer to go to a more expensive one!  Good luck!

Hmm that's a tough one. I had trouble finding anything in that range. You'll want off season for sure and east coast. DR?

Hi Lyssa,

I forgot to mention this, I went to Marlin Travel (usually found in Walmart).  They had a wedding specialist that I got connected with.  When you get a group rate it is for 10 or more guests.  Anyone who books this rate is guaranteed a one time price adjustment if the price goes up until 60 days before departure, which is a great bonus because they usually do go down $50-$200 dollars.  Another awesome thing about Marlin is that you can use Airmiles.  You can cash in 950 points for $100 dollars off your trip.  So there are a few ways to bring the cost down.  I had two different locations (Orangeville and Oakville) get group pricing for me for 4 different resorts and then picked the best one.  So we are going to Majestic Elegance May 5th-12th for $1380, which is amazing for this resort!  If you need any contacts the lady I am working with is amazing! So let me know :)

To add to your choices, Air Canada has something along the same lines as Marlin Travel.  Only thing is you don't get to work with a travel agent, only the group person.  They have thins promotion going on.  http://www.aircanadavacations.com/media/PDF/6646_Groups%20Terms%20&%20Conditions_EN_HR.pdf

I know the Bahia Principe Coba in Mexico is less than 1300$ and it's not the cheapest resort so there might be something along those lines for you.

And defintely book off season, thats the biggest price changer I find.

Good luck!

I would also like to know more about this? Is it Marlin Travel that  guarantees the price drop? We booked our vacation with Sunquest and were told they have a similar price drop guarantee. Has anyone else had any difficulties with this?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
