My sister actually created beautiful Save The Dates for me, with "November 2013" on them.  I showed them to some people at work and they said it was confusing....  Though I have been telling people the week we are thinking of.  Though that week has now changed a few times :(

Even if you do not choose a specific date, once you have your week narrowed down, you could just put the week on them. That is what we did, and then we put our actual date on our website and told people later on.

Just something to think about.

Yeah I got a really good rate from the TA so I didnt want to turn it down. I considered waiting but who can turn down $1100/pp for a double room. Online, I haven't been able to find anything as low as that for a couple of months.. so I took the deal. My family doesn't really know these things about resorts and such, so it's not that they think they can find a better rate. They just have committment issues.

That is probably what we will do.  Thanks for the suggestion!  Put the actual date down on the formal invitations....

That's a great price!!  My fiance's family doesn't know much about traveling either.  They told me that they only want to spend 800$ a person on the resort.  I think that is likely impossible! :(

Because I haven't even decided on a resort yet (as I want to give my guests the best chance for a good deal), I don't have a wedding date yet.  Which is even more  difficult, to be honest!  People always ask when the wedding is... We originally planned to do the first week of December, then that got changed to the last week of November, and now that has changed again to the second last week of November.  I want to send out save the dates, but I can't since we haven't chosen a resort.  I have a few resorts picked out, but I am finding it really hard to choose!

If it can help you, at the time when I sent my STD all I knew was that I was going to get married in October in Punta Cana (I had my top 3 resorts). Even on my website, it is not written the resort yet since I just made up my mind on it and might even change if something happen ! They will know all the information on the formal invitations.

I really wanted to give them a full year to save money and plan their time off. At that point, in my opinion, whether they know which resort is pointless. At least they know it's going to be in Punta Cana...

Wow yes, that's a really good price ! I hope for you that your guests will do their own research quickly and realize that !

For Riviera Maya, that might be a difficult task. I've searched around a lot already and haven't seen many that are lower than $1000/pp. Hopefully they will understand and be willing to dish out a little more. It really doesnt help your case that they don't know much about travelling cause they're naive with the prices.

LOL for my sake to be able to plan further, I hope they will realize it too.. that I'm just trying to help them out by offering a lower prices. It's just stupid cause they're like 90% sure they'll be going... That's a pretty high percentage if you ask me to not be booking with me now for the low price.

It sounds like I'm in the exact same boat as everyone. I've had my aunt and cousin (who is a bridesmaid) complain about the group rate that I received. They contacted a different travel agent and found a rate the was $28 cheaper so they refused to put a deposit down. They have yet to book and are waiting for a "deal". I don't think our resort really offers deal and has been to known to sell out. I actually think they are going to end up paying more because they waited.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
