Hi Joda

I was born and raised in Montreal. I moved 11 years ago but all my family is there. Are you going to wedding show this weekend at palais?

I actually forgot all about the wedding show. I don't think I will go as I have most things organized for the wedding, and if I go It will probably stress me out that with things I am not doing!

my friend does an amazing job on invites. She even helped me create my awesome business cards for my Makeup artist business. PM if you want. She is really good and reasonable too.

I think I'm going to use vista print for everything I can - will have to do the Passport invites myself though, or get them done somewhere if I can find a reasonable price.

I got it for such a good deal too, WITH a free garter :)...and best part....I dont even need to alter it. Fits like a glove and with my shoes, I dont even need to hem it!!!! Just need to put a bustle on it for the train in the back (it's not a long one).

Can't wait!!!!

I'm in as well! I'm getting married (hopefully) Feb 20th, 2013 in Playa Del Carmen.

I have one question for all you girls though. Have any of your guests expressed concern going to Mexico considering all the violence that has occurred against Canadians in last little while? I know they haven't happened in this part of the country, but there have been many targeted attacks on tourists, and I don't want this location to dissuade anyone from RSVPing.

Send me your thoughts.

Thanks,

Breanne

We are not going to Mexico, but I have heard a lot of people expressing that they are glad we are NOT going to Mexico. I have no problem with going to Mexico. The reason we are not is simply because we have been before.

I would try to inform the people with concerns that your area is NOT experiencing any problems. People get hurt all over. Usually, tourists in touristy areas are fine. This is (obviously) not always the case, but no one is always safe anywhere. Things can happen anywhere. Just keep sending them information showing that your area is safe. Maybe direct them to reviews by other tourists who traveled to the area and made it back safe and sound.

The fact is, if people are really freaked, they won't go no matter what. That sucks, but it is the way it is. My grandfather refuses to fly no matter what. I can assure him that everything will be fine, but the fact that there has ever been any flight go down is enough to make him miss out on my wedding. Similarly, the fact that some tourists have been hurt or worse somewhere in Mexico will make some of your guests not want to go at all.

There was this article saying how everybody is overreacting to all the violence in Mexico. Plus here in Edmonton we are the murder capital of Canada right now.

Thanks for posting this article, I feel the same way. We're getting married in Mexico this May, and none of our guests have had any issues with the destination. We've traveled to Mexico before, and many other places in the world; and as long as you are a smart traveller nothing horrific should happen. Usually media likes to blow these rare events out of proportion, and often we do not know the full details that led to such events. And yes, there are cities in Canada that can be more dangerous then cities in Mexico. Considering how many thousands of tourists flock to Mexico annually, and although the events are tragic, the numbers are not that alarming.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
