Why I ask about diamonds is that if you want plain wedding band, you can get a platinum band of the width you want and make jeweller carve a piece out of it, to make it fit to your wedding band. That will definitely keep your costs down. Also check blue nile, plain 4 mm platinum wedding band is 860$. I hope it helps.

If you want diamonds, you need to shop around. Also you dont have much time to be honest

You should fimd out if the bulk of the price is for the platinum or the gold smithing.

I had to have my band made and the price was $800 (from a private Goldsmith) but mine is white gold.

From my understanding, platinum changes over time, and almost becomes duller. If I had a white gold band, the e-ring and the band would eventually look different as they got older. Correct me if I am wrong!

Manda 123 - maybe only get diamonds halfway around? When we were looking bands we were told that that we could get diamonds half way around my band and have them added later. It would be more expensive in the long run but would save you money now. Like the other girls mentioned, take a look at blue nile, they have some pretty good deals. The price of platinum will most likely continue to rise along with gold so it might be best to go for it now rather than later.

Hey Shelly,

I am whitening my teeth and getting a facial done before the wedding. With facials, make sure you tried it before, so you won't have a surprise reaction on it.

Hi Manda,

That is quite a price! I also need to get a band to fit in with my e-ring. I am getting mine at a wholesale jeweller and it is costing me 1200$. I would recommend asking friends, Is there any way the jeweller can negotiate the price? Good luck. We also didn't want to spend over a certain amount for both, our budget was 1500$ for both and realized that if we both wanted customized bands our budget would have to go up. So my fiance is opting for a more basic band for now. Hope you can find something you are happy with:)

He works privately out of his home. We were recommended to him from friends of ours. His work is amazing, and he doesn't charge the crazy overheads like People's and other shops.

Okay so some background info: My e-ring is platinum, so my band needs to be platinum, too. Because of the shape of my ring (it's a halo style with a round base), I need to have a jacket band. Our budget is about $2000 for both of our bands (could squeeze to $2500 if absolutely necessary), and the designer knows this. He just came back to us with the estimate for JUST my band at $3100! I might barter back and forth with him, but I don't know if it's worth it because there is no way we willg et both of our bands for $2500 and this rate.

Does anyone else have a platinum ring? Is this an outrageous price?! Should I jsut try to barter as much as I can to lower it then bite the bullet? I could shop around and go to some of the big chains, but I feel like I am running out of time to have one designed... We leave in just over a month!

Any advice would be appreciated :)

You are so right kat2012!  I'm an esthetician and skin care therapist for 9 years, and I can tell you that having a facial can give your skin a beautiful glow as well as be a real treat before your wedding day (congrats by the way!).  You do, however, have to be cautious as your skin may be vulnerable to side effects if you are not familir with the products or treatment.  Maybe have a good consultation first, and please go somewhere with a good repution... Also know that it usually takes a few facials in a row to really deliver optinal results ;)  Good luck and enjoy!

Manda123 - What a beautiful ring!!  I can see why now it will be hard to find a wedding band for it.  Good luck!!

Ladies...I have a confession to make....Just not really into the whole wedding plan thing right now.  I wish it would hurry up and get here but don't really feel like doing much else for it.  Maybe once my exam is over on December 9th, I will feel more into it.

Anybody else getting the wedding blahs??

Ohhhh yes...that's me in a big, big way...on the rollercoaster of feelings from the "blahs" to "super stressed"...back and forth, round and round.  I spent 7 hours decorating our Christmas tree yesterday and wasn't really excited about the whole thing in the end (which really isn't me!!).  8 weeks from Sunday we leave and my dresses haven't come in yet, my BFF's dress is too tight, my FI's daughter's dress hasn't come in yet and when I finally sit down to do my "what's left to do" list, I'll probably crack!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
