Totally! Thankfully my photographer (bicoastal) is originally from Canada and their pricing is in CAD for Canadian brides... Every little bit helped!!! I'm just hoping the dollar goes up a bit before my final payment! I have a US finds credit card through TD and use this for all charges though- so I don't get hit too bad while on double fees.

OK, please tell me I am not alone..

Am I the only one who is a little annoyed that our Canadian dollars are being converted to US dollars when we pay for our wedding?  I mean, I may lose close to $1000 because of this GRRRRRR

I have considered converting to peso's in Canada and paying cash BUT, that is a heck of alot of money to bring with me.   Credit Card is probably the easiest but that exchange rate kills me.

Anyone else thought of this?

I did not even think of this !!!

All I have to pay pre wedding is  my deposit and nothing else until I am in Mexico.

I plan to go to the bank in December or early January and see what the best financial option would be (ie - is converting Canadian to Pesos any better than USD to Canadian, etc.)

I have heard of US accounts but don't have one -- maybe I should!

I've been trying to convert everything to CAD but it's hard. I'm also monitoring the dollar. Hopefully I'll get to pay everything when the exchange isn't too bad . We always get screwed as Canadians

I have a friend who lives in Mexico but makes Canadian money. He said the big banks/ATMs will just convert Canadian to pesos but the small ones won't. So have to go into playa to convert. Not sure I want this hassle but maybe to save that much in exchange to USD I should?!? I don't pay anything until I go for my wedding in January! My deposit was $500 USD but I paid $561.

Also nervous to convert close to $7000 there as I may make myself a target!!! Swiping a credit card seems safer.

I was just about to mention the US account.

Last time I was at the CIBC bank, they suggested I open an US personal account. My fiance is American so I travel quite often. Their suggestion is that when the exchange rate is good you can transfer money in that account and your CAD becomes USD.  So I guess it depends how far away your wedding is, and if the timing is right with the exchange rate. The only fee was $0,75 per withdrawal or transfer. It seems like it could a good option.

Also considering this!

My only fear is what bank allows you to make a point of sale purchase for $7000?  Maybe I can up it for the day!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
