I was telling my fiance last night that it's 7 months until our wedding. So excited! :)

I'm just wondering if anyone else is going though the same thing with trying to book group packages- we get the group pricing from our TA then all our guests are expected to pay in full within a couple of weeks (before that special pricing expires). They can't put a deposit and pay on a few months. Our wedding isn't for 7 months. If we want to hold seats we can't use the discounted rates. And then all payment has to be in within 6 weeks. Any advice/suggestions-or is this the same experience everyone else is having?

Hmmm that seems odd to have to pay in full. Our TA (who is actually from Calgary) arranged a group package for us back in January and everyone had until this week I think to put down a deposit. The deposit is only $100 pp and then they have to pay in full by 60 or 80 days prior to the trip. Maybe you should try a new TA? If you're interested in the contact details for my TA, PM me and I'll give you her info.

Our wedding is in December and our group quote with Westjet just ended a week ago. To get in on the group booking our guests were required to put down a $256 deposit per person, with the balance being due on October 1. What airline/company are you going with?

ya, that definitely sounds strange. we got our group rate in January too, and deposit of $300/person is due by May 1st to secure pricing and seats. The balance isn't due until 60 or 90 days before departure (can't remember exactly). We are booked with Air Transat. I would be looking for a new TA!

I have always wanted to have karoke at my reception and my resort and fiance are letting me have it!!  I am super excited... People seem surprised when I tell them that is what we are doing.  Is it weird to do karoke at a wedding?  We will have ipods and playlists too if people need a break from the singing.

We also booked with a TA in January for our wedding in Jan. 2014. Our guests need to pay a $200 deposit by the end of May and can pay as frequently as the want, with balance due at the end of October. If the price goes down between now and then, we get the lower rate as well.

That is so weird! We are getting married on Jan 09 2014 and we got our group rates in December of 2013. We booked our group with Air Canada Vacations and our guests just had to put down a $150.00 deposit per person, final balance is due in September!

Maybe check with Air Canada Vacations? I know that Westjet and Transat will do the same thing as we got quotes from all three companies!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
