I think we are going to go with the ultimate package....though I'm not as sure now, after realizing how little photography we really get with the package. I might look into an outside photographer/videographer for the day of and use the resort photography for a ttd session. We just have such a limited budget, it scares me a little how expensive everything is!

We also went thru the same thing and of course still aren't 100% sure but that is what I put the deposit on. I thought about doing the free wedding and actually priced everything out and it would cost more to do it that way. The photographer at the hotel is actually very good. One reason I picked this resort was because a friend got married there just over a year ago and loved it. She is very happy with the pictures. I read that the 50 pictures included only are from the ceremony itself so you will need to extend it for the additional hour ($150) to cover the photo session with the bridal party. I'm working with a wedding planner here who has worked with Dreams alot. Hoping to get more insight once we actually get to start the process. I know its nearly a year away and I can't help wanting to figure it all out now :P  Hope this helps you make a decision.

So what is making you bring your own tabe decor and sashes? Is it cheaper? Also are you bringing welcome favors?

Dreams seems to be popular. Bit hubby likes the looks or Melia Caribe Tropical. Any input of that resort?

Also do you book your wedding then go to the travel agent and book the week? All new to this. We have only gone to Mexico, last year, with a group for vowe renewals ( and was perposed at tulum) but we didn't have to do any of the major planning.

So this is all new to both of us.

Hi Alirea! I went thru like 5 different Destination Wedding companies to get the best rates for my guests. This was hard work and annoying. You can get your date before but for us it was more important to find a time where it was affordable. We went with the end of Jan because Feb is more expensive around valentines and then march for spring break. Keeping the costs down for our guests as much as possible was the important part. Note that with group rates it takes each company like 4 business days to come back with rates so it is very time consuming. Since I am going thru a destination wedding travel agency, they booked the wedding date before we agreed to the group purposal. I paid for the additional wedding planning service but  we haven't gotten there yet. We are still in the deposits period seeing who will actually book with us and how many people are coming. Lots of people may just book their own trip closer to the wedding as well and we will need to be prepared for that. IDK if this helps but good luck!

yes its a lot cheaper... I got my sashes for about 50 dollars and at the resort it would be about $200... also i wanted to make sure the color is correct and I'm also taking matching napking and napkin holders which I'm having the guests names engraved on so it can be a wedding favour as well... I also found candle holders that I loved so I ended up buying that ... now the resort is just providing my flowers for centerpieces.

So how does that work, if you bring your own do you have to set it up or do you just give to the WC to put the decor together?

Also what do you decide is worth bringing in your OOT bags cause I know ill have favors and our stuff but wedding stuff would be another suitcase?

The flight was OK, but they did make me put my dress in the overhead bin, and just stood there watching when people put their luggage on TOP of my wedding dress. That made me mad,but if you stand up for yourself then it will be Ok. My husband and I both brought 2 suitcases, and then my parents each brought an extra one of ours. They would have waived the fee for the suitcase except I had pre-paid, so dont pre-pay haha.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
