I think we are going to go with the ultimate package....though I'm not as sure now, after realizing how little photography we really get with the package. I might look into an outside photographer/videographer for the day of and use the resort photography for a ttd session. We just have such a limited budget, it scares me a little how expensive everything is!

I agree everything is expensive.

With expenses you just need to decide what is most important for you and go with those things! For the other things that may not mean as much to you, if you still want them try to do them the cheapest way possible...I am not super artsy/crafty but I made a whole lot of stuff for our wedding and it sure cuts down on costs! Or if you are on the fence about something perhaps you should drop it if it doesn't fit in the budget.

Hi Alirea, My FI proposed while we were on vacation in the Mayan Riviera also!  We booked our wedding before we booked our trip.  We actually are still shopping around a bit for thel trip for the wedding.  We have our wedding date confirmed and know which week we want to go.  Some people do it the opposite way.  We didn't want to do it that way though, as we were concerned that we would not be able to reserve a date in the week we were looking at.  My advice would be to go with a travel agent that specializes in destination weddings that can help you through it.  (It can be quite overwhelming).  This website is a great tool though, lots of people to talk things out with!  Choosing a resort is the hardest part. Happy planning! Dina
Thanks Dina We are looking into a travel agent. The first one was a dud. Didn't even have the curtsy to say congratulations, offer us a seat to sit down , then said she would touch bases in 2 weeks but we should look at resorts ( we had already name 3) Now on to the next lol. It's a little anony but I think I lose it if I was planning a big wedding here in Kingston. Good luck on finding a resort!!! Alison

Oh no! :( That is super stressful. Has anyone put their deposits down yet? Have you and FI put yours down? Thats awful that she has Cancer and i dont mean to sound rude, but she'll probably have a lot on her plate. I can't even imagine that but if she's telling you that she can handle it, then maybe she means it. But regardless of her health situation or that you used to work together, you need to do what is best for you and your guests. I went through a lot of travel agents before I settled on one who is actually in Mississauga Ontario. Knowing how our families are, I wanted someone who was getting the best deal for us but also has great customer service. My guests LOVE her. I hope you end up with the same experience!

Does this TA work for a specific company?  IE: an office where there may be other agents that can help out?  If so, I would contact the actual office and see if there can be some additional help...   As someone that treats cancer patients, I have seen many patients sail through treatments, while others have a very hard time.  It is possible that your TA will be able to handle it all - or she might not.

If you know her personally, you could always make a nice meal and bring it over to her house.  Check in on her and see how she is doing.  She will appreciate that you thought of her in that light.  While you are there sincerely ask her if she thinks she will be ok to handle the wedding.  Tell her that you definitely understand either way what her decision is.  It's a delicate matter, but I think if you go into it thinking of her it will all work out.

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
