congrats!!!!! I do see that finding the perfect resort is the hardest part! Getting engaged at a resort definitely eliminated all other resorts for me, so that seems to be the least of my worries! We are Dreams buddies though :) I am getting married at Dreams Puerto Vallarta!

Hi Kay!

We have many brides looking for skinny starfish to bring down with them because they are either hard to get in destination, or very expensive. Who would have thought right?! Ebay is a great resource for this and they are very inexpensive here.

Congrats!! And yes that does make it easy! Lucky! We went back and forth on so many resorts. I swear I could tell you everything about like 10 different resorts in the Mayan Riviera by now. I like the simplicity of the Dreams packages though and the resort looks beautiful! Have you picked a package?

I think we are going to go with the ultimate package....though I'm not as sure now, after realizing how little photography we really get with the package. I might look into an outside photographer/videographer for the day of and use the resort photography for a ttd session. We just have such a limited budget, it scares me a little how expensive everything is!

I'm from North Vancouver and just joined last week!  I'm still waiting for him to pop the question, but we've discussed the possibility of a DW.  We went to the RIU Palace Riviera Maya for a wedding in September and loved it!  I think we'll choose Riviera Maya for a wedding, if we go that route.  I've looked at the RIU, as well as Dreams Tulum and Now Jade. I'll just have to get him on board once he proposes!

Hey everyone! I'm just starting to look for resorts for our jan or feb 2014 wedding. Dreams seems to be popular. Bit hubby likes the looks or Melia Caribe Tropical. Any input of that resort? Also do you book your wedding then go to the travel agent and book the week? All new to this. We have only gone to Mexico, last year, with a group for vowe renewals ( and was perposed at tulum) but we didn't have to do any of the major planning. So this is all new to both of us.

Hi Alirea,

My FI proposed while we were on vacation in the Mayan Riviera also!  We booked our wedding before we booked our trip.  We actually are still shopping around a bit for thel trip for the wedding.  We have our wedding date confirmed and know which week we want to go.  Some people do it the opposite way.  We didn't want to do it that way though, as we were concerned that we would not be able to reserve a date in the week we were looking at.  My advice would be to go with a travel agent that specializes in destination weddings that can help you through it.  (It can be quite overwhelming).  This website is a great tool though, lots of people to talk things out with!  Choosing a resort is the hardest part.

Happy planning!

Dina

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
