Thanks soonCB!

@ JA2012: Those are amazing!! Exactly what I had in mind too, and you did a great job with them. Were the silk flowers from Michaels? The one at Yonge/Sheppard only had Christmas flowers right now so I couldnt find anything nice. The ones at Dollarama are out of the question...

That's a great idea. I didn't even think of that. My appointment is December 1st so maybe I will call them in a week to check with them, and see if they have the dress I'm looking for. Thanks for the tip!

No problem! I know they had some new styles as of this fall, and if you've got time before you need to order, I imagine they'll have more new dresses in early 2013.

I used two kinds. The light pink flowers are from Ikea $1.99 a stem. And the darker pink ones (almost purple) are from Dollarama (no lie!) once they are in water you can't tell what they look like.

I LIVE in the Michaels at Yonge/Shepp!! That's too funny! I've probably seen you there.

I bought the last few at the Dollarama at Leslie. But then I found a whole bunch at the one on Orfus...may have bought all of them from there. You have to look hard to find them. Most look yuck. But if you search hard enough you'll see them. Check www.afloral.com - or google it. Site might be spelled wrong. But they have a lot of orchids.

If I need to break it into two orders I will. I'm a DIVA ON A DIME! I'll do anything to cut costs on foolishness like duty and customs charges.

Hey JA2012, is the above meant for me? LOL

Just in case it was, my order subtotal was $76.00, and then $26.83 for shipping. There wasn't a 10% off coupon at the time I ordered sadly.

They look great - good job! My FI and I really didn't want to bring any more decor than we've already got, so no glass/vases for us. We put out all our decor out on our double guest bed, and it's pretty much covered!

Next time I head over there, I should really PM you and see if you would be free LOL. I live downtown by the Eatons Centre, and there are absolutely NO Michaels around me so it makes me pretty sad. It's either the one by Yorkdale or the Yonge/Shepp one for me. I went to the Dollarama on Sherbourne, so I guess I didnt give Dollarama a good chance. The location was probably not the greatest to be looking for good-looking flowers.

Which Michaels did you go to? I was at the one on Yonge/Sheppard, but I couldn't find anything nice at that store. Might have to make a trek to another one another day. I was trying to find some floating candles for my centerpieces.

Hey - I found floating candles at Michaels at 30 Billy Bishop Way, right near Wilson subway station. I'd considered the ones at Ikea that another bride mentioned, but they're really little, and I wanted larger ones. All candles were 40% off last week and I think they were priced at $1.49 ea...? They were just over 3" wide and came in white and ivory.

I was originally going to go with pillars, but Tai Flora quoted me $7.50 for 6" pillar candles which was crazy, and that didn't include the vases! So then I thought we'd bring them ourselves but we didn't want the weight or bulk of pillars so decided on floating ones. I'm just going to add stones to the bottom of the vases that we are renting.

Tai Florals is RIDICULOUS!! They were the ones who gave me a bunch of absurd quotes. But as I've been told, there's no point shopping around for better prices in JA because EVERYTHING is expensive! The floating candles I got from Ikea are only 2 inches and I thought they were too small as well. BUT, when they are lit and in the water it's like everything looks bigger. Somehow the shadow or whatever makes it appear to fill up the vase. I'll try Michaels when I'm there next. I have another 40% off coupon so will probably be back. I'm seriously addicted.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
