I've checked Club Monaco, Aritzia, Banana Republic, Bebe, BCBG.... nothing so far. I'm looking for purples or greys - light in weight bc we will be in Cabo in Novemberc 2012. I'm in Vancouver so am considering heading to Seattle to Macy's or Nordstroms if I can't find anything. But before I set that in motion - I thought I'd check if anyone had seen any dresses out and about that could work. thanks!!

Try H&M, Marciano, Mendocino, Winners

Maybe Le Chateau -- especially as its prom season?  You can check out their dress shop online to see if there is anything that interests you!

I've been doing the same thing and I've hit every store around (unfortunately not seeing the colour I want), but I seem to recall seeing greys and purples...

Try RW&CO., Jacob L'Atelier, Zara, maybe even the Bay.

If I think of others or see anything, I'll let you know!

Thought of two others - Melanie Lynn and Laura.

Hi All!

I'm new to this site. My FI and I got engaged 4 months ago and we decided on a destination wedding. We are currently thinking of secrets wild orchid but have yet to make up our minds. Which is fine since we wont be getting married till 2014 (We have loads of time!). I've been looking at all the resorts in Jamaica and so far love secrets. The problem is, is that my FI family and friends are on a low budget so I'm not sure if they would be able to afford it. We're also not sure if we should go with the TA route or do it ourselves.  We're in the GTA area so if anyone knows any good TA or have any suggestions and tips would be great!!  I should mention that my FI and I have never gone to any kind of resort before and we're pretty excited about going.

Hey Kristin,

Congrats and welcome to the forums!  The Secrets Wild Orchid is a beautiful resort in Jamaica for a destination wedding! I have included a picture of one of the wedding gazebos on the pier that overlooks the beautiful Jamaican waters.  I love this ceremony location!

Happy planning :)

Thanks! I will definitely look. I'm not stuck on greys or purples either. I'm 6 months away and haven't picked my colours - so part of me thinks that if we find fab dresses - I can work them into my colours. Not sure if that's backwards. What colours are you looking for Sjay?

Appreciate the direction ladies. The hunt continues.... :)

Just a heads up Secrets chains tend be rather pricey -- I priced them out earlier this year for my winter 2013 wedding and quotes came back around $3k per person for 1 week!  Great location I'm sure but might be hard on your budget!

Welcome Kristin.

We are working with Ophellia from Bridal Affair Destinations. She is originally from Jamaica and specialises in Jamaican Destination Weddings. She has been great to work with. I believe her base is in GTA, but we have communicated with her via telephone and email since we live in Winnipeg. She offers her services as just a travel agent and as a full wedding planner, including travel arrangement. I definately recommend her. She was able to give us a lot of useful information (including a sample budget of what our wedding would cost) before we even committed to using her services. Her website is www.bridalaffairdestinations.com and her email is [email protected]. Another great thing is that she is on island often, so she can scope out things.

Hope this helps!!

Hi Kristen!

Congrats on the engagement!

I have made my way around the Caribbean and I would suggest choosing somewhere more affordable than Jamaica.  It's quite pricey - beautiful, yes!  Next to Jamaica I would pick Dominican Republic (Punta Cana).  They have amazing beaches ... it's beautiful, and prices are much more reasonable.  Are you looking at choosing a five star resort?  My next choice would be Mexico, then Cuba.  These are also affordable.  Everywhere else is reaaaally expensive!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
