I don't know how I managed to miss this thread for so long!  Must remember to scroll down to the chit chat part! lol!

We're less than 3 months away from our wedding, and have been tossing back and forth the idea of favours.  We already have OOT bags to hand out at our welcome dinner (they're super full...I went a little overboard I think!).   We're also having bubbles, fans and programs on our seats at the ceremony.  As we're getting married in Jamaica, I had originally made Jamaican Spice favours in cute little containers, but was questioning whether I should just put those in the OOT bags as well because a) they don't REALLY fit with the decor and B) then our guests will have to carry them back to the gazebo for our reception/dance!  What do you think?  At each place setting we'll already have a menu and a seashell place card holder.  We're also handing out sky lanterns and personalized matches at the dinner for the reception as well.  I just don't want to see my guests hauling around too much stuff the night of, or not having room for all of this stuff in their suitcases! Any thoughts?

Happy planning ladies! ;)

Oh, there's an easy solution to that...just have a little basket of those nylon collapsable grocery bags that guests can help themselves to at the end of the evening! ; )

One of the girls I'm sure on this thread mentioned them not that long ago...she bought hers in Canada.  These are the ones I bought:  http://www.efavormart.com/reusableshoppingbag-fushia.aspx

I was concerned about the same thing...between the pashminas, shoes or flip-flops (whichever they don't wear back to their rooms), boxed up leftover cake, maracas...they'll have an armful of stuff to take back.  The only other thing we plan to do is put out a bunch of snack items/treats from Mexico that our guests would not have seen/tried before.  This will be done around 10-ish...about midway thru the dance.   Sounds like you've got lots of great things in store for your guests!  Jealous about the sky lanterns...they're not allowed at our resort due to the dense jungle surrounding...

Oh, sorry...I totally meant to address the spice packets too.  I would probably put them in the oot bags, use those small clear ziplocs from Dollarama (craft section) that would hold a couple of tablespoons of mix(?)...and attach them to a cute little card with a recipe on it...like maybe a vistaprint postcard?  OR, if your guests are leaving the resort before you as ours are, I might be tempted to see them off with a thank you card in an envelope, the spice mixture and recipe card enclosed.

cynlee - here is the link to my OOT bag thread

I got the majority of my mugs in the states at Walmart and even picked some up end of the season for like $3 but I had to pick up about 10 more at Canadian Tire the last time they were on sale since we have more people than expected.  They aren't heavy but the 34oz are bulky.  The tumblers are easier to pack so we are lucky the majority of our mugs are those, just the larger size for our wedding party and immediately families

Thanks so much for the suggestions MJKH!  I've been going back and forth and changing my mind each day!  I had completely forgotten the cake boxes that we'll be giving our guests at dinner as well, seeing as we're having a separate dessert with dinner! More to carry!  I think we may have to go the collapsable bag route!  Goodness...I need to stop shopping!  Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
