Don't worry Janet, I know how you feel. I really don't think a lot of people understand that like ANY wedding, destination weddings also require a lot of planning and organization! I cannot count the number of people who have made comments to me like "destination weddings are stress free" and "don't you just show up and everything is done for you by the resort?!". I politely explain each time that there are many aspects of wedding planning that remain the same regardless of the location....dress, bridal party attire, favours, food selection, cake, dj, flowers etc. Instead of tastings, we have to make selections based on pictures and documents. Instead of meeting with our vendors, we have to do everything via email. Plus we get the added bonus of having to deal with travel agents! haha. You have the right attitude though...keep calm and carry on!!! That being said, I'll let you know how I feel on October 1st when my RSVP deadline passes and I haven't heard back from everyone! :)

There are so many last minute guests adding on. Its not that i mind that we will have more people or anything like that but its the fact that we are so close now and most of my planning is done for favors, OOT, my BUDGET, organized seating, the resort etc.....if it were two people SURE no problem but we are talking like 8 and counting...so many of the last minute deal shoppers. But the worst part is that we are finding this out through the TA and the guests arent even telling us so when we mention it to them they are telling us they thought it would be a "nice surprise"....i think some people dont get that you are still planning a wedding. Its not just a trip down south. I need to know these things! LOL oh well there is my rant....if i have all these extra people and not enough OOT or favors i will just politely apologize to these guests and move along with my trip and wedding! Keep calm and carry on!!!! LOL

I hear ya girl!! ....You could maybe explain to them politely that being all of the girls have different tastes, that you think it would be best if they purchased their own shoes, that way they can get whatever they want, and it takes the responsibility from them coming to you later wondering what they should do.. you are throwing the ball in their court to deal with it... etc... If you still want to buy their shoes but still want to try and shake off the stress of it all, then maybe give them some money towards the shoes.. like " hey i was thinking.. because you all have different tastes, i would like to give you 50  ( or whatever amount you want to give) dollars to go towards your shoes and that you ladies can still get the shoes you want, and they can still be our gift to you!"

Good luck Darlin!!

We were doing their outfits as their gift but at this time I am thinking they will jsut get the dresses because I can't be bothered anymore!  I totally agree not to sweat the small stuff but I know the one will be on me in January asking what we are doing for shoes.... *sigh*

You might want to give us more information... what resort, where... why you are decorating yourself?!

Oh Laurelyn I am so so sorry to hear this... how frustrating... Maybe they will give you a 50% refund or something and you can get them altered?!

OMG Janet I would be so annoyed..... If I didn't have enough OOTs (wont be bringing more then guests I know about) I would just so... ohhh sorry your "nice surprise" cost you a seat and a favour HAHA just kidding!!!!

Your day is so soon!!!! Keep Calm and Carry on!!!!

Honestly even though i am trying to stay calm and carry on....IT AINT EASY! pokestick.gif

every day we get closer and things like this happen, it stresses me out.

I also have OOT and favors and everything figured out to the T! and it might drive me a little crazy to just add random place settings etc....it would look so out of place and i want pics of my set up at the resort! I cant control everything and i dont want to be a B*&^% to my guests who are afterall friends and family but it completely boggles my mind.

Even if (and its WAY off the truth) you just showed up and it was done for you....the resort would still need to know how many people they need to snap their fingers and miraculously have a wedding put together for LOL  stupid.gif

This is me right now!!!!!!!! girl_werewolf.gif

@Camy......good luck! i hope you get all your RSVP. Just be prepared that a good chunk of people will not RSVP and you will have to decide to just let it go or start dialing away and calling everyone. Now i see why some of the people didnt RSVP (i never called) they were planning the whole time to just shop for a last minute deal. (can you tell i'm bitter) LOL

the GOOD news is.....i have my BD shoot and make up trial booked. My photogs that is coming down south with me....his gf is a make up artist and is doing my make up so we will do the trial and then my make up will be done for the BD shoot. I have to go shopping for my outfits. Retail therapy always makes me feel better :P My dress fitting is also on the 24th WOOOHOOO

I can try and help...what part in the process are you stuck on so I can try and guide you through?

FYI....the most recent sale is pretty good with a whole bunch of free items. I placed 5 separate orders (personalized tote bag, keychain, magnetic note pad, notebook and sticky notes for my bridesmaids) and they cost me $7 for each order incl. shipping & tax. For the heavier items such as postcards I did a large order using the 'free shipping over $30' promo and picked up another 11 items for $37. It's sad...but I think that was my last wedding Vistaprint order! haha

You can get them uploaded just by starting any photo template then deleting it from your cart. The only thing is that if you don't order anything with them, you might have to pay the upload fee the next time depending on which promo you use. Once you use a photo on an ordered product it is saved in your portfolio and you never have to pay the fee again....even if it was free the first time.

Hope that helps.

Hi Ladies,

I can't remember if it was on this thread of the Canadian Oot bag thread, but a bride posted some Vistaprint Thank you post cards that she had made with the attached post card background. I really liked what she wrote on it, and for the life of me I can't remember! I thought I had saved a photo of it, but didn't. Started to look through both threads but couldn't find it. I think the post was in July some time if that helps. If you know which thread it was or who it was can you let me know?

Thanks!post card.JPG

Alright ladies... as I always I turn to you for help/advice.

I really wanted fans for our guests during our ceremony.  It will be 3PM and I am sure HOT so I didn't want people to die.  I really liked the sandalwood or palm fans but a few months back when I was helping out a friend of my moms she had one of these "collapsable purse fans"  I mentioned what a great idea it was as they collapse to palm size and can be tucked in your purse or bag.  She is a supplier of them and mentioned she may have some and that was the end of that.

Well today, to my surprise I received a fedEX box with 45 of these hand fans in them in black & white paisley and a green and white flourish (our colour).  I think they are really neat but 45 is not enough for all our guests and when I looked online they are $6 a piece so I don't know if I can afford to buy more....

So here are my questions for you:

Do you think EVERYONE at the ceremony should get one (we were going to put them on the chairs), I think it would be hard to control who does and doesn't get them but I was thinking we could stick them in the OOTs instead and get people to bring them to the ceremony....

Do you think we should just suck it up and try and buy some extras to top up our numbers?

Should I try selling these and buying the palm or sandalwood fans so at least everything is the same?

Here is a picture of the two styles and then the size of them folded up.  I am so appreciative that she did this for me and cant get over how generous of her it was but at the time we had like 40 people booked and now we have over 60!

Forgot to mention....

I don't see the men using these but they may get hot and be thankful to have one (I think they are more likely to then the ladies!)

Is anyone else doing fans?  Do you think the men will use these or more likely to use the more "neutral' palm hand fans?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
