Didn't even see this questions SORRY!!!!

I took off the plastic and folded them into the "kits" I also made a "sewing kit" sticker that I put on the back "flatter" side...... I think you can see it in my OOT thread!!! Hope this helps!!!!

Tori, did you ever answer the question a while back about what you're doing with the Michael's sewing kits?  Are you taking the plastic off and closing them, or putting them in the bags "as is"?

I did only 1 so far (thanks for reminding me, I totally forgot I have more to do!!!!) and I used "soused" as that is what I have seen on here.... I am thinking I will change it to "sauced" as more people will get it I think... no one is going to say "sauced" is not the word or is a spelling mistake but I would hate to think with "soused" they are giggling at our error (even though it is right)

Love these lights and the umbrellas!!! Great finds.... I haven't seen a London Drugs around us but may need to look into it!

Patio lights - different styles - regular retail between 15.99 and 19.99 - now 50% off.

These umbrellas we'll be getting creative with...they open up just like a regular umbrella, but they have an adjustable clamp base.  Maybe along the deck rail...???  You could probably just cut or break the clamp off...they were $2.99 each on sale and came in turquoise, yellow and red.

Finally, at the suggestion of a bride a little bit ago, I went back to Superstore to pick up these fabric-covered CD/DVD cases that we'll give to our parents with a copy of our wedding DVD with a photo in the cover.  They are now on sale for $1.44 and also came in a royal blue colour at some point.

What Bikini Store and what colour were the dresses?! I am still considering a multi way dress so this may be an option for us!!!

Only problem, we bought our bridesmaid dresses in a different color...boo...so now I am going to get the girls to try it on then try and see if we can still return them. Cross your fingers...if not I guess we will have to keep the dresses but I will likely keep the dress for me for Mexico!

So I decided to post a photo of the ribbon I found in the 1$ bin at Michaels. I saw the eat, drink be married on another bride's thread and loved it. FIY if any of you ladies are having brown or pink or purple as your wedding colors, there was other ribbon in the bin with nice sayings like We just tied the knot...Celebrate... Worth checking it out!

I also included Christmas decorations...yes...that is right from Michaels but I am planning on using them to make a centerpiece in a vase with sand and sea shells. They had a lot of different colors. I will post a photo of my end result when I am done.

There done for today!:)

I got my at Winner/Homesense as well.  They are HUGE for the mesh bag of 10 was only $14.99 like Janette said.... they are fake starfish as well which I really like because I didn't want a creature to die for my decorating but like luvmoo mentioned... very hard to find "fakes"

I did find these Smelt a little bit so we have been airing them out and that seems to help... Janette did you find this?

its a Its a Canadian company and they have lots of different sizes of starfish.  I was going to order mine from there but I happened to be at Winners one day and they had giant finger starfish in bags of 10 for sale for $15 so I bought mine there.

Have a safe move Leigh and we will see you when you are back in Ontario!!!!!!!

At Homesense, I would look in two places for sure...the area where they have candles and potpourri I've often seen bags of driftwood and shells...but they're often scented.  The other area is the place where they have dried grasses/fake silk greens and arrangements, etc...I've seen sometimes they have bags of shells, balls covered in shells or other nature-y treatments (to put on display in a bowl?) in metal tubs in that area.  Any other ideas?

Hey Ladies! just discovered this thread!! Great idea for a place for random canadian chatter and advice :)

I'm in Toronto and getting married April 20th 2012 at Paradisus Punta Cana :)  For the reception we went with La Barcaza (the wedding boat)

Hey Coco Yul!

We had the same issue, its tricky.  I found that if you get advice from your TA on what weeks are generally more affordable and are flexible with your date then you should wait for the TA.  However we ended up having to switch resorts because 1 year in advance the resort we were originally planning to select was booked every day with weddings!!  I couldnt beleive it.  Since then I am pleased with the new resort (PPC), but it was tough as you need to book both simultaneously almost!!

good luck!

We're getting married Nov 2012... Since we want to find a nice and affordable resort... we still have to wait to get the $$$ for the all-inc package from our TA... Should I book a date at the resort that I want or wait to get the $$ before???

Tori, you are so active on here and I love it!  I am also doing real touch DIY bouquets so maybe we can share tips.  One question about your centerpeices, are you worried about the wind pulling over the tall grasses?  I have heard the wind can be an issue and to avoid real candles.  Although if your reception area is covered maybe its a non issue!  just something to ponder!

SOOOOOOOOOOO here is what I have decided.

Ceremony

- Shell pomanders on 3.5 ft sheppards hooks to line the aisle

- no aisle runner

- no additional colour to chuppa

- no chair sashes

- reserved seating signs for parents

I am considering doing raffia and starfish but they would have to be pinned to the backs of the chairs and I just don't think it is worth it so I will likely just keep it nice and simple.  I am loving incorporating white into my colours so the white chair covers and white billowing curtains for my arch I think will be perfect!

Dinner

We are doing a semi private dinner so I do not want a TON of decor.

- MR and MRS chair signs for FI and My chairs at dinner

- Reserved seating signs (same as ceremony) for parents

- Possibly using tule (i bought for another project and ended up not using) in our colour to run down the middle of the table

- 4 or so centre pieces on the table

I cannot decide whether to use the BM and my bouquet as the centre pieces and save on some cost or do something a little different... I really like height in centrepieces so this is what I came up with let me know what you think

(sorry the picture is sideways.... the second is a close up of the shells at the end of the grasses)

IMG_3247.JPG

Reception

- centrepieces on all round tables

- maybe use the sheppard hooks with lanterns around the site of the reception (battery operated tea lights in lanterns)

I really just want a romantic simple elegant feel and do not want to be lugging a TON of stuff, I already have all my OOT stuff to bring.

Let me know what you think and where you think I should maybe add stuff or if you have any ideas!!!!

I have looked at two Homesenses and Winners stores in Edmonton here and the only starfish they had were like you said in the scented potpourri bags. I think Michael's is your best bet without having to order online and paying shipping. I don't need enough to make it worth while as we aren't having that many guests but I do want to use them for place names?...you know what I mean on the dinner table and for decor. Does anyone have any mini colored starfish? I really want some to add to my centerpieces and to decorate the table but really don't need to place an order for anything else.....May have to suck it up and pay.

Hi Tori,

I got the dress at a store called Sublime in St.Albert, just outside of Edmonton but I have posted the link below. A swimwear shop near you may also carry them. I haven't tried to register on the site yet, but I am hoping I can order online. They have lots of really nice dresses that would be great for a hot destination. Here is the link. The dress I got is under convertibles and is SL5000. Victoria Secret also carries a dress identical to the other dress on the site, the red one. I have that one and love it too!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else.
