Canadian Brides!!!!!!!!!

Hi Again.,

Since I can't sleep and am up with a heating pad on my back, I thought I would do some searching for starfish. Here is the deal...I read threads from other brides and you will have issues ordering starfish from any American website as U.S. Wildlife will stop the order. I searched for Canadian suppliers online...no luck. So my thinking is Michael's is your best bet..they have their 40% off one single item this week so you could get the bag (It is actually Starfish garland) for 24$ and that would bring you to about 14$ not bad...and you can go back or visit another store.

I am also going to look for silver decorative ones...fyi the Tin Box stores do carry them...I think 2$ each...a bit steep so I am thinking online may have a better deal.

Let me know if you have luck anywhere else. I am going to call and check Crafts Canada...think they have them in several cities...Going to call and make sure they are still open in Edmonton as it has been years since I have been there.

I was at Michaels today and I too want star fish, I planned on searching online tonight for a canadian site....I will let you know what I find. If you find anything, do you mind sharing too?

Thanks and happy planning! This thread and the ladies on here are amazing and unfortunately making me spend more money than I should be spending!

I've been reading through this thread, and have found some great tips already, thanks! I'm in the middle of planning our wedding at Ocean Coral and Turquesa in the Myan Riveria on March 22, 2012. I'm wondering if anyone has come across any good places in Canada to buy starfish? I've looked at Michael's, they do have a bag of various sized starfish, however I'm looking for bigger ones to use to decorate the huppa/arch on the beach with. Or, have you found any good online sites to order starfish from?

Thanks for any input you may have!

Bridesmaid gifts maybe? Or for yourself!

If you have not discovered Foxy jewelry..well you will have to now! This is a nice line of jewelry that is carried in many hip and smaller shops but I found it at Shoppers Drug Mart (Gallery stores)...the ones with jewelry, pashminas, watches..etc

I was in a swim shop today and they carried the Foxy line too. They had really cute starfish necklaces...I thought the starfish were decorative so I asked about them. See photos below.

I checked out their website and YES you can order to Canada...didn't calculate cost yet. So take a look either for your bridesmaids or yourself! They also have earrings...sadly not matching for starfish or sand dollar necklaces but there are a few other cute sets.

its a Its a Canadian company and they have lots of different sizes of starfish.  I was going to order mine from there but I happened to be at Winners one day and they had giant finger starfish in bags of 10 for sale for $15 so I bought mine there.

I saw a giant bag of starfish sitting on the shelf at Homesense one day...by the time I went around the store and decided to go back and look at it again, it was gone : (

Hey Guys!! for all of the questions on starfish.. i purchased LARGE ( 8-10' ) starfish on ebay actually...I purchased 8 of them for decorating my arch.. and they were good priced, and had no issues at all shipping them to Canada.. Also,  I purchased a ton of small starfish from oriental trading with no issues either...  Hope that helps! oh and they are real starfish.. I wanted fake.. but they were impossible to find, so i just went with the real ones..  so Try ebay!!!

Welcome!!
Try Oriental Trading. I've seen starfish on there in various sizes but not sure if they will be big enough to meet your needs.

Book your date with the resort - it can always be changed! Hopefully they don't charge you to hold the date?!

I found during my search that I had to work around what dates were available becuase it booked up fast!

If you have it narrowed down between two or so, then i would just book the date to hold it.. you can always cancel them later.. That is what i did.. as we were waiting for package pricing from our TA on the three resorts we narrowed it down to, so i booked the date with the three resorts, and then when i chose one, i cancelled the other two, no charge! but it is better to be safe then sorry if your date is important and you don't want to move around any... and ecspecially if you go to a resort where they only do one wedding a day... then they really do book up quickly.

Good Luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
