Has anyone had doubts about their wedding dress?

Recommended Posts

So I posted me in my dress but I cannot help but think I may have bought it too quickly. I like the fact that it's elegant and classy but I've seen others lately that have jumped out at me. Is it normal to second guess your dress choice? I hear alot of brides raving about their dress and I just haven't been like that. However, I second guess pretty much everything I have chosen (except for the location :) I'm debating whether to buy one on ebay but I know my mom would kill me since she bought the other dress. Anyone have any thoughts?

That's a tough question. So far all I've done is research dresses online so when I do go try stuff on, I have an idea of what I like. However after I buy my dress, the best thing to do would be stop looking at other dresses so I don't have those second-guessing feelings.

If you found something on ebay you really like, and it's not super expensive maybe just buy it and say it's for a TTD session or something. Or for an AHR if you are having one..

You need to stop looking at dresses. With that said, its hard cause you look at all the awesome dresses that the girls on here post. I am in the exact same boat. I know I love my dress, but I see the other ones and I think man, I wish I tried that on. I always wonder if I got the right one. Lucky for me I only have 1 month and 2 weeks left, so I can't get another one even if I am tempted to, lol, but it is hard. I am there with you and have felt that many times. I know I will love my dress when its on, but right now, I just don't know.

Yeap I think almost all the brides I've talked to had second thoughts at one point or another before they wedding came along. Some people actually ended up getting a second or third dress, while most others ended up wearing their first choice and LOVED it. I had 2nd thoughts as well, but in the end I totally loved my dress and glad I stuck with it.

I think all people do this in general with everything, not just bridal gowns! You see something you love, you buy it, then you see something you love more. Im sure if you went and bought another dress you would end up wanting a different one in a few months. Im sure your dress is awesome! Just stop looking at dresses and youll be fine cheesy.gif

oh honey...I think a LOT of girls second guess their dresses! I can think of at least 3 or 4 just from the forum who have wondered about theirs. Some ended up buying a different one, others stuck to what they had originally bought and were happy as well. The thing is that there are SOOOOOO many gorgeous dresses out there - it's almost impossible not to see another one you fall in love with.

I think if you're having serious doubts (like you dont feel very pretty in it, you're not comfortable, don't feel like yourself etc.) then look around a little more....you can always sell the first one and buy something else. But if you're just seeing lots of beautiful dresses and you like them too...then it might not be worth the expense or trouble of buying/selling another one.

Hope that helps!!

And I agree...if you find one you love. Stop looking. Don't go shopping or searching "just to see"...you'll wear yourself out that way! ;-)

My mom warned me not to buy too early, so I did humor her and go to a few different stores and waited a few weeks. But, I was so happy with one of the first dresses I tried on and loved loved loved it and had to have it. But now I'm seriously doubting my decision because of all the dresses I see on this forum. My dress was my mom's gift to me, so I have to keep it. If I told her I wasn't wearing it, she'd be really hurt. So, I guess the best thing to do is stop looking at the wedding dress thread on this forum!!!

I am having major doubts about the dress that I bought, too. My dress has a really low back, and I fell in love with the back..but now I am second guessing the front. Uggggh! I am going to wait until my dress comes in to the store and then see how I feel about it when I try it on for the second time. If I still don't like it, I may start looking again. I am glad to hear that other girls have doubted their dreses, too. It makes me feel more normal :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
