2012 Brides in Playa Del Carmen or Tulum

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am so thankful for this website. I got engaged a couple of months ago and decided that Mexico would be awesome for our wedding. I am planning on getting married, May 12, 2012. My dates are flexible but it will be the same weekend as our anniversary day so it will be easier to celebrate each year cheesy.gif.

I am feeling kinda anxious because I have been looking for many hours and days for the perfect location for our day but I haven't been able to make a decision because surprisingly lots of resort are adults only but my question is can kids at least come to the reception and not the ceremony?

I am planning to have no more than 40 people and i'm hoping to find a small resort that is not on the lower end but not pricy either. We are in our early 30s and we love to have fun.

Here are my top choices in random order:

Le Reve (but they are too  restrictive for me)

La Zebra

Dreams Resort, Tulum

Mahekal

The Tides Riviera May

Are there any recent brides from any of these properties? I won't be able to do a site visit, so I am relying on reviews and this amazing website.

Thanks you so much for your help! I feel like once I have a venue book everything else will be easier (I hope)!

Happy planning and congrats to you allk!

Welcome!! Try searching for those specific resorts to find the threads on them, that should provide you with tons of information!  For us, choosing a resort was the hardest part!  Good luck with deciding!

Congratulations and welcome to the forum.   Playa del Carmen and Tulum are both beautiful.  Playa del Carmen is more active with more things to do, although it still has the small town atmosphere.  Tulum is on the quieter more tranquil side and the beaches are amazing.   I photograph both areas often and all brides are equally happy.  It depends on your preferences what will suit you better.   I will include a link to a wedding I recently photographed at Dream's to give you an idea of the area.

Hola! La Zebra is a great location for an small wedding group,  They have a beautiful beach, and also they have a salsa party on Sounday´s.

Dreams Tulum is also great, is an all inclusive but smaller than the others and has a nice spot for pictures

Good luck in your planning!

Hi! I am also new to this site and got engaged a couple of months ago . I need to definitely reccomend Le Reve to you!!  My finace and I were there for vacation in February and fell in LOVE with this place! It is a little gem on a quiet beach.  The boutique style of it (compared to the all inclusive) makes it even better!  I loved it so much that thats where we decided to get married next May as well (MAY 19, 2012).  I know you said it may sound restrictive BUT they are totally willing to work with you.  The wedding coordinator there, Arlenis, is so helpful and they can do almost anything you want.  If you have 50 people total (including you and your groom), you can reserve the whole hotel so only your guests can stay there, and then you are allowed to have kids because it basically YOUR resort for Thurs through Sunday.   Also, I found an amazing deal with Le Reve and Del Sol Photography and this website.  Del Sol photography is the best rated photography in the area and their work is amazing.  Check out this link to see the details of the promotion http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/73510/del-sol-photography-la-luna-photography-hotel-lereve-bdwf-promotion     .   .

Also, take a look at these pictures that Del Sol Photography took of Le Reve  http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=238

You get the 6th hour of photography free when you purchase 5 hours, you get 2 nights free if you stay 5 nights at Le Reve, and a 30% discount on all your stays at Le Reve forever.  Aslo, your entire party gets 20% discount on the room rates.  So far, working with Le reve ad Del Sol has been perfect.  I know you said you wont have the chance to go see the venues in person, so I just wanted to let you know you cant go wrong with Le Reve! Hope this helps :)

Thank you so much for all this information! As I much as I like the Reve, I only have 35-40 people in my party and they wanted me to guarantee 20 rooms in order for me to have my party there, which I can't do because some people might be interested in booking at a cheaper property. I could only guarantee 10 rooms, which is half of my party since most are couple but it didn't work out. I was a little confused because on her original email she mentioned that as long as half of my party stayed with them so I was excited and then they changed it to 20 rooms. It is beautiful and it was my first choice. I am sure I'll find a place that I could celebrate my special day

I am so excited for you! My ideal wedding day is the week before yours.

Happy planning!!

Sonia

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
