I cannot wait to hear about your site visits!!! Paradisus is one of my favorites...but the weddings seem extra expensive there.

We are visiting Paradisus Punta Cana, Barcelo Bavaro, Barcelo Punta Cana, Melia Caribe and Ocean Blue and Sand. I am hoping to cut down this list by atleast one resort in consideration of time. Where were you planning on visiting and have you touched base with the WC? I guess its not standard to be able to try the food on a site visit huh? Can anyone add some input on this...is there a seperate cost to taste the food when your doing a site visit. Food is super important and could potentially be a deal breaker for us.

Ugh I am just so anxious to lock down a venue so I can send out the STD's!!

Thanks!!

Hello ladies,

A few weeks ago we went on our site visits, and we saw alot in the few days that we were there. We stayed at the Paradisus Palma Real, and visited Majestic Elegance and Colonial, Melia Caribe, Iberostar Bavaro, Ocean Blue and Sand, and the Jellyfish Restaurant. We loved the Paradisus but it's wayyy too expensive for our guests.. I was in love with the Majestic Elegance from the start, but we were torn with the Melia...but in the end we choose the Majestic. We have booked our date for May 18, 2013!!! We didn't do food tastings but we did do a walk through of all the properties....I am very much in contact with the wedding coordinator, I think I am already driving her crazy... We have already booked the DJ, and I have been in contact with a photographer and videographer. I think once I have them booked, I can take a breath and calm down lol. Is it too early to be booking vendors? If you have any questions about any of the resorts that we visited I will try my best to help out, but I will be honest we saw all of them within 3 days so some of it is a blur!! :)

Talk to you all soon

Glad your site visits went well! We're booked at Ocean Blue as they had good pricing for our guests :)

I don't think it's too soon at all to book vendors if you're ready to do so! I just booked Caribbean Emotions for our April 2013 wedding, and when I asked for their availability my wedding week, they already had 3 bookings.

Once you have your date booked with the hotel, you'll breathe easier - at least I did!

Happy Planning!

I'm a 2013 bride as well! Getting married May 28, 2013 at the Jellyfish restaurant in Punta Cana and I think we'll be staying at Dreams Palm Beach but I keep waffling. I'm finding it really hard to choose a resort only based on pictures and reviews! We don't have the money or time to do site visits, so I really am basing it on other people's opinions. I'm just worried we won't make the right choice and end up at a resort we don't enjoy. I think this is the most stressful part! So happy to have found this thread. I'm looking forward to hearing about everyone's planning. :)

Hey Ladies!!! My name is Elizabeth Gomez, so excited to be planning my wedding( can't wait actually) 😄😄 My big day is April 13, 2013 but I'm having a hard time choosing a resort, and what makes it even harder is that I'm not able to walk and see the properties myself since I'm a visual person 😔 .. Also I am basing my decision not only on what I like but on what my family and friends can afford and that makes it 10x harder.. I am interested in Dreams Punta Cunta, Riu Hotel & Resort and Majestic Colonial and a few others..lol too many I guess, but I just wanna make sure I get the most for my money of course..Over all the best word to describe how I feel is overwhelm.. Any suggestions lady?? Any idea is more then welcome..

They all seem lovely!

We are in the same boat... no site visits for us!

Pick out the things that matter most to you, and then go with the resort that has the reviews that best match that.

For us, we wanted somewhere we have never been with a 'wow' factor, and relaxation. So we are choosing Cayo Levantado in Samana (DR). But, if that doesn't work out, Dreams Punta Cana will probably be a big factor (we cannot book until May). That was the first one I looked at, and really loved.

There is just something about being on a secluded little island though.... off the tourist path... so that is why we changed our focus. HOWEVER, there is a downside to everything. Secluded, yes... active night life... certainly not. And not too many excursions either. We just hope our guests are okay with what is there.

So, decide your priorities, and then list your favourites according to that. I literally had checklists going...

Then, forget it all and go with your gut. I am sure you won't be disappointed!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
