for those who did a slideshow at their at home reception...

My FI has the projector and laptop and such so i was going to have the slideshow go on all night. Do you think the wedding video should play that way? I was thinking about bringing a TV DVD player and having the video run the whole time too. Overkill?

i think its cool to have pics running over and over in the background, but i think a video could be distracting more than overkill.  also, i wouldnt want to do that because i would prefer to have everyone give their full attention to it once and watch it in full.  just something to consider.

I kinda thought if the TV was shoved off in the corner when ppl got bored (its a 6 hr reception with a flimsy timeline cuz we dont like rules or want ppl to tell us what to do) they could watch it. If they get distracted in the middle it will be looped so they can go watch again. ........opinions?

I'm not sure, but I am liking the idea of pics playing continuously.... I think we will do the traditional slide show, then watch the wedding video (again, probably unprofessionally done), but then AFTER that leave pictures running... we will see about the rental and set up of equipment though. And, that way, people won't worry about missing something. The AHR is mostly for the older family members anyway... they really like seeing all those pictures I find!

FYI, i did my slideshow this past saturday.  we already had a screen and projector, so renting was not an issue - but i wish i started the party later!  we made it for 4pm and it only got dark at 8pm and most people had left by then!!!   i had also decided to put the pics inside the house on the TV and a lot of people saw them that way.  but some people were outside the whole time and didn't see the slideshow till much later.

oh well i tried.

same issue with the video, we could only play it after dark, so basically all my friends with babies had went home.

It's definitely a possibility.  We were married 4/11/11 and had our AHR 4/30/11.  In fact, our video was in hand from Maui 10 days after our wedding.  Just ask your videographer before you sign a contract if he had put a rush on it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
