I'm in the UK - the lanterns have been banned in lots of plac es here too - but there's a new product called Flying Wish Paper that's just started to be available here.  It's a great indoor, around the table wishing thing - I'm going to use them in June ...

I love this idea! I'm going to check with my resorts WC, hopefully they're allowed!

Dreams La Romana allows it, thats crazy that Dreams Palm Beach said no.  I even sent them pictures of the sky lanterns to double check and both WC said it was no problem, that we could use them from the beach.

We ordered them from www.eventlanterns.com. They were a huge hit!

They said it is because of the palm trees.

Does anyone know if these are allowed at Dreams Cancun (not Riviera Cancun)? I've already bought them (the biodegradable ones), and we're leaving on Sunday.

Best thing for all you girls asking about whether or not lanterns are allowed is to check with the resort and get confirmation from them firsthand :) this will avoid you buying them and potentially incurring additional luggage costs to find out when you get there that you can't release them.

Anyone in Toronto wanting to share costs, send me a PM.

I love this idea. I am going to find out from our wedding coordinator at ROR if these are allowed. I will let everyone know their answer.

We just let off sky lanterns on Wednesday at our wedding reception in Runaway Bay Jamaica!  They were a huge hit and everyone loved them!  Unfortunately, there was one that didn't quite work and caught fire instead but the rest were lovely. So many people at the resort were commenting on them the next day, especially the kids!  I would highly recommend doing them if you can! Definitely worth it! Good luck with your resorts!
