Sky Lanterns!

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the awesome info!!  I'll definitely be ordering from that site so that I won't have any hassle with the airline.  Do you know if the wax film works just as well as the fuel cell?

I ordered from them some floating lotus flowers and sky lanterns (even though our resort doesn't allow it). I looked into it ALOT thinking I would somehow manage to still release them when we are down there. I will let you know if I decide to do it, and how it goes if I do!

The customer service was amazing!! And feel free to email or call them  with any questions you have, they get back to you very quickly! I was quite impressed with the quality of their products as well!

Hope this helped!!

HELPFUL TIP: I ordered some lanterns off ebay from China... they were hard to light and seemed like fire hazards... my fiance was certain we were going to cause a major fire! After a few test runs in Florida & a couple failed attempts due to wind we decided to look into flame resistant and bio-degradable lanterns instead. I purchased a couple from www.skylanterns.com and they were MUCH BETTER all the way around. The fuel cell lit easier (even in the wind) and we weren't afraid as they took off that the paper would catch on fire and become a falling fireball that would land on someones home!!! The biggest bonus here is that they are 100% biodegradable... at first this wasn't a major concern for me but we are releasing them over the ocean and I wouldn't want to have the marine life tangled in the wire. We have decided to spend the extra few dollars for the peace of mind that come from the many safety features these lanterns offer. Hope this helps out!!! We are VERY EXCITED to do this as a finale to our wedding night and we are trying our best to keep it a big secret :)

ANOTHER IDEA:

We are going to give our guests Sharpie Markers so they can write a well wish for us as we begin our life together and then we will send all of our wishes off into the sky. We have also tried writing on them and it works fine... just advise guests not to write too hard, if the paper tears the lantern won't float

Thanks so much for posting this Ashley!  I was tempted to ask Chandlyn, but didn't want her to say no!  So I was going along with the "don't ask, don't tell" policy as I've already ordered them!  But now I know we won't get in trouble! ;)

I got mine from theskylantern.com as well and they're airline safe for sure!  Plus they were super cheap and arrived very quickly...even to Canada!

For my MP brides, I was so excited to do the sky latern thing and of course the night of my wedding it was too windy. smile27.gifValeria advised me earlier in the day that we were probably not going to be able to do it. So we monitered the wind conditions and as we reached nightime, it sure was windy. I was a bit bummed, but I got over it. Then, while honeymooning in Cabo, my husband and I were out to dinner at the Marina in Downtown. My husband says, look up! There's those light up things that you bought floating in the sky. I look up and there were pink sky laterns afloat! It was beautiful!! I hope the weather conditions cooperate and allow you ladies to do this. It totally WOWS you! Good Luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
