**Secrets Wild Orchid or Jewel Dunn's River Resort? Montego Bay or Ocho Rios? Help!

Recommended Posts

Hello - I've finally narrowed down the many all-inclusive, adult only resorts to choose from in Jamaica and need help picking from my final 2!! Both resorts look absolutely beautiful according to the website, but has anyone actually been to either of these resorts? I'd love to hear some real reviews beyond Travelocity :)

Secrets is close to the airport, which is nice and convenient, but Jewel is right by the Dunn's River Falls which would be a great excursion opportunity for our guests. I'm torn!!

Any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated!!

My parents just got back from Secrets Wild Orchid a while ago.  They absolutely loved it and said it was definetly the best vacation they have been on (they travel A LOT!!).  The only thing they said was that because its so close to their airport you hear alot of the air traffic and the plane noises constantly, which was a bit annoying to them.  They said the food was amazing, the service was amazing.  We would be getting married there if it wasnt for my little neice and nephew who are coming!  We plan on honeymooning there though!

I am getting married at Secrets St James this weekend.  It is attached to Secrets Wild Orchid and is actually less expensive and you still get to use all the things at both properties as well.  I promise to review this resort and the wedding services after I return.  I know that I had a tough time finding reviews on the wedding aspect when I was trying to decided so I really want to help out other brides.

I visited Secrets St James last year and it was amazing!  My fiance wanted to get married there, but we have kids in our group!  Wild Orchid and St. James are essentially the same hotel.  They share the restaurants and bars, etc.  It is a 5 minute walk to get from 1 side to the other.  We actually preferred the St. James side because it was a little more spread out.  We saw a couple of weddings while we were there and my only gripe is that there were few "private areas" to perform the ceremony.  So you will probably have "on-lookers".

I have never been to Jewel, but I am not a big fan of the Ocho Rios area and it is a very long and ride from the airport.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
