Hi all!  I have posted in a few other threads but wanted to officially say hello!  I was officially engaged last weekend and we are hopefully going to be married in Los Cabos the week/end of Thanksgiving of this year (November 24th is the Thursday)!  We have been getting quotes from Dreams Los Cabos, working with Teresa of Vacations 4 Less (thanks Tammy!), and also want to look at Melia Cabo Real, and Barcelo Cabo.

I just started looking at Barcelos last night but it looks amazing but reading reviews on here for wedding planning sound awful!!!!  Dreams Los Cabos definitely seems like the most organized and most reputable but also the most expensive for guests which is what my FI is concerned about.  Teresa indicated that Melia Cabo Real is a step down from Dreams but the pictures and reviews seem equally as good (just not as many as Dreams).

I know that there are so many threads to look at for each individual one, but could anyone share their experiences of searching and finally picking the resort?  If I'm also not mistaken, does Melia Cabo Real have the balcony with the black iron benches for a ceremony site (which I love but can't recall which post I saw it)?  I am also open to any resort suggestions!

Final question as a newbie - does anyone think it's possible to plan a wedding in Cabo in a little over 4 months?!  Or, am I just crazy?

Thanks for any input!  This site has already helped me tremendously!

First of all, Welcome!! And congrats on deciding on a destination wedding!!

I don't have much information about the specific resorts you are looking at, however, for us choosing the resort was the hardest part of everything so far.  What we did was make a list of what was and was not important for us.  For example, resort size, location vs airport, restraunt options, proximety of excursions ect.  From there we narrowed it down to about 3 resorts.  We then went to a travel agent who was able to provide us with approximate prices for each resort, and that ultimately helped us make our decision.  We were concious of the price as we knew our guests would be paying to come, but at the same time we wanted to go with a resort we loved even if it was a few hundred dollars more.

As to the planning your wedding in 4 months, I beleive it can be done.  However, I know the dates you are looking at are really busy for destination weddings.  What you could do is contact three or four resorts you are considering and find out if those dates are even available, that might help guide you to a specific resort as well!

Good luck with your planning!

I am getting married at Dreams Los Cabos and am also using Teresa.  I kept adding resort choices, taking them away, bringing them, but something kept bringing me back to Dreams.  Ultimately it's going to have to be about what you like.  I ended up going with Dreams based on the reviews on here, the all inclusive aspect, the reviews I got about how the resort photographed from different photographers and the reviews on Trip Advisor.  As soon as reserved my date, I started having buyer's remorse and started looking at other places just because I felt like I had made a haste decision.  I am however, still with Dreams! LOL.  I say make a pros and cons list of each resort, that's what I did.

As far as four months, I have seen many people on here do it I just know I couldn't!  I can't make decisions easily (obviously) and my guests would need more time since I have about 45.

Congrats and good luck!

Greetings fellow brides!!!! I JUST got married at the Dreams Cancun 2 weeks ago.  It was unbelievable.  it totally surpassed anything that I had envisioned.  Planning a destination wedding poses a number of challenges for brides.  The lack of control was the hardest part for me.  I am a former celebrity wedding planner and knew exactly what i wanted and felt like m vision was not being seen.  So I hired the most amazing wedding planner from Mexico.  She was in addition to the planner that was provided to me through the dreams.  She has worked as a planner at some of the hotels before so had a great re-pour with the planner at the dreams.  She ALWAYS answered my emails (which the other planner was lacking) she found me all the things i wanted to a fraction of the price the hotel was trying to charge and was just a JOY to work with.  There was no "fee" to work with her.  We ended up getting our cake, centerpieces, dance floor, and lounge furniture through her.  We gave her a 200 dollar tip bc she was just so calming.  There were a few issues that happened on the wedding day, but i never heard about any of them... she put out the fires and made sure I was OK. Her name is Sandra and does all local cancun area weddings... I have her infromation if anyone is intereseted.  She stayed alomost the entire reception to oversee that everything was going as planned.  At some point we dragged her onto teh dacne floor.  Seeing the pictures of her with us on our wedding night was hilarious.  She was worth every penny and most def the vendor fee that we were charge by the hotel to get her on.  It made up for itself with all the lower prices she got for us on everything else...Her email is sandy@ultimatemexicoweddings.com  Tell her that Patricia and Arsenio highly recommended her.  You will not regret reaching out to her.  I will post pics on my amazing wedding once I get them! Happy wedding planning ladies.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
