JAMAICA 2012 JAMAICA BRIDES

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have food recommendations?  We are having a private reception with 52 people and wondering what people have had and liked.  We want to do a buffet style and I was given 4 options.

When we are there in Jamaica is the WC there the day of the wedding to help out with things or am I going to have to ask some of my guests to help set up center pieces and odds and ends things???

If you or your guests are of caribbean descent or even if you're not but enjoy different foods, def go with a west indian buffet - rice& peas, jerk chicken, fried plantain, etc. SO GOOD!!

But if some guests aren't so experimental then mix it up...do bbq chicken, pumpkin rice, veggies etc. You can't really go wrong with food in JA.

What were the options you were given??

There was a Jamaican buffet that the man carving is pig and then a lot of different foods.  Another is the BBQ buffet that has chicken, pork, fish and beef---just a bit of everything.  And then there is another one but its not in my optiosn.  They all have a wide variety of things that is why we have chosen to do a buffet since everyone has different tastes.

Hi Erica,

I was married at the GPLH last May ... we did the Italian menu not a buffet, so i can't really comment on the buffet options. The Italian menu was absolutely amazing... most of our guests ended up going to the italian restaurant the next night to eat it again.

When you are in Jamaica you will meet with your WC a day or two prior to your wedding. She will take you to the location and backup rain location and go over how things will be set up.

Keep in mind they do up to 4 weddings a day so just make sure you have your main options pre-planned and booked through the WC (location, music options, food options, cake flavor, etc)

Any decor that you bring from home.... you will be responsible for setting up. My mom and I went to the reception hall after the ceremony and set up our centerpieces.... and we had to change all of the place cards around (they put them out but not all the couples were beside each other lol) We also had to set up a table for the ipod player since we brought one instead of paying $500 to rent one.

If there are any "extras" that you want set up or displayed that you are bringing from home... they might set them up for you (make sure you ask your WC) ... but regardless... i would DEFINITELY designate at least one person to double check and ensure things are done the way you want.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
