Kukua Beach Club-Punta Cana?

Recommended Posts

I have been asking myself that same question since I got back from my visit LOL

I think that you can't go wrong at either place. They were both very nice just different. Jellyfish is a little more open concept with high ceilings feeling alittle bit bigger whether that is actually true I'm not sure. JF has a wider beachfront property but I question if they whole area you see is theirs and not some public space as well. Maybe someone on here would know? I've seen local children playing soccer and people walking around the property during weddings. Also I've heard that you can hear the music playing from the neighbouring stores around JF. Some brides have complained about this during ceremony. That being said Kukua does have a bit smaller "backyard" BUT it is definitely all theirs. There is no way of any gawkers on the left where Gran Bahia is because theres a few buildings there and trees. The only place you could potentially get gawkers is at the waterline which would be true for both places and I guess theres a chance someone stands at the fence on the Riu side....though I feel like that would be unlikely bc there was no one laying there when I went to visit. Even if someone was there its wide enough that they won't hear you saying your vows or be in the background of your photos. Plus I think the gazebo is a little higher up on the beach from where the Riu fence ends. Kukua has a pool which looks very nice and could be used at the end of the night if you're feeling adventurous lol. JF has nicer chairs that are included... I would be less likely to rent Tiffany chairs at JF than at Kukua. I think because Kukua has less weddings you will get better response to questions and concerns during the planning from Bego versus Mayte.

I don't know.... I feel so conflicted

Did she give you a pricelist? For renting Tiffany Chairs etc.....?

Yes she did. Tiffany chairs are $6 per chair I believe.

$1200 is just the decor, another $1000 for exclusivity.

Well I'm leaning towards Kukua but I haven't actually booked yet, still trying to decide between Kukua and Jellyfish but the main difference between these places and a resort like Now Larimar is there is SO MUCH more privacy. I felt really bad for the brides and grooms getting married at the beach while i was staying at Now Larimar. There was like 300 half naked people 3 feet away from them listening to their vows and standing in the background of their photos. And theres some really rude disrespectful people out there that will walk right up to the gazebo while you're getting married with their camera. Also I like the idea that I'm the only bride getting attended to that day. Now Larimar has anywhere from 3-5 weddings a day, all usually between 3-530pm. I also think that Bego or Mayte (wedding coordinators at Kukua and Jellyfish) will put a lot more "heart" into decorating and setting up your day. These are my opinions from what I noticed seeing some weddings and meeting with all the coordinators from Jellyfish, Kukua, Royalton, Now Larimar and Huracan Cafe. Hope this helps!

How did you get info on Huracan Cafe? And what was that experience like?

well for pictures i just googled Huracan Cafe wedding... theres only been 2 weddings there so far. I emailed them for more info. Its cute but a little too rustic for me. Plus the beach wasn't very private for the ceremony compared to JF and Kukua.

One of my best friends was married at Jellyfish, and she just adores Mayte!! Her wedding was gorgeous!! The day was perfect. My fiancé and I are getting married at Kukua in December, and so far Bego has been incredible to work with. We did not go do a sight visit. We booked Kukua based on photos, reviews, and correspondence with Bego. And I didn't want to have my wedding and reception at the same venue as my gf even though there will only be a few people at our wedding who was at her wedding. If I would have gone with the Jellyfish then our weddings would have basically looked the same due to us having very similar tastes.

@@colivia I just did my wedding at Kukua. It was Perfect! I personally didn't care for JF because I think all the weddings are starting to look the same. Trust me, Bego will work with you!

I wanted something totally different for decorations from what I had seen at JF and she totally rocked it! My advice to you is, try to do the wedding with "your" style and you will not go wrong.

She has the ability to do the set up (ceremony and dinner) right in front of the water! It's beautiful! I was gonna do that but it rained on my wedding day. I was still able to do the ceremony on the beach but the dinner was set up in the palapa which is also a unique feature of Kukua.

@@Mrsoats you will not go wrong with Kukua! See my comment above! It truly is a beautiful place and you can have your dinner at the restaurant, on the beach, at the palapa, by the pool! So many options!

I just got married in Punta Cana in December.  These would be some of my tips for a future bride:

  • Get married in your hometown and have a symbolic wedding in DR - ceremony and vows.  I have heard horror stories of couples not having their certificate a year later.  I would just play it safe and have that paper in my hand.  No one needs to know. Consider the hometown wedding just the day you did all your paperwork and your real wedding day the day you celebrate in DR.
  •
  • Use Patty Jordan at Wright Travel Agency.  She was a blessing.  My guests were coming from all over the country and all had different circumstances.  She handled it all and your guests are able to make partial payments
  •
  • Check venues outside of the resort for your wedding.  You get more privacy and more for your money.  I got married at Jellyfish and it was PERFECT.  I also liked Kukua
  •
  • As far as photographers, again you get more for your money using an outside vendor.  I used www.thememory-factory.com  they were extremely flexible and reasonable.   My pictures were gorgeous.
  •
  • Welcome bag.  I was able to get the nylon backpacks at the dollar tree and gave everyone flip-flops and two bottles of mini Presidente beers.  I saw everyone using those backpacks all week long even at the wedding.  Some of the ladies used them to bring flats to the wedding for when their feet got tired. Don't waste money on providing aspirins, stomach medicine, etc. everyone packs that kind of stuff anyway.
  •
  • Wedding favors.  there's a company called www.dominicanfavors.com that will deliver the favors to your venue.  that way you don't have to carry all that stuff to DR.

    • Another option is to find an app that allows for group talk. This Wedding Party App looks pretty neat. https://apracticalwedding.com/wedding-party-app/
    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
    • So we are currently looking for an all inclusive resort for the wedding. We have 60 guests and found all the Dreams resorts as options and all of them gave us a quote and discounted price since it’s off season etc. Resorts in Punta Canta gave us a reasonable price, Dominicus gave us a really good deal then La Romana Resort and Spa gave us their regular price and so hard to negotiate. Will someone tell us how special is this resort that they won’t give us a good discount when all my guests are staying in their resort for 5-8 days. We are bringing $$$ in their resort and not give us a discount?  What is so special with this resort?  Can somebody recommend a beautiful resort?
