Hi ladies! Haven't been on in awhile, I was not doing much for the wedding until after Christmas when I realized that it was coming up really quick! Now it's only 8 weeks until we leave - eek!

Is anyone else having a small group? We will only be 21, maybe 22. I am just trying to figure out the reception, and for some reason it is stressing me out. I don't know if we should have dancing or not. There will be 5 parents, 4 kids, and then 12ish that are in their 30's and 40's. Should we just do eating, chatting casual, or traditional eating and dancing? Do we just do an iPod and then if people don't seem keen on dancing skip past that type of music? Or hire a DJ so they can hype people up? I just want everyone to have a good time. What are you guys doing?

I am also having a small wedding - probably about 20 people or so. Our guests are all over the spectrum in ages, and not a huge dancing group overall. I am considering a DJ, but I really do like the idea of keeping it more casual. One of the things I'm struggling with is that I feel obligated to give the guests a complete "wedding experience". If I decide not todo the DJ, I am considering taking the guests on an excursion.

Thanks ladies. We had a talk about it last night and I think we are going to go with a DJ. Even though we aren't big dancers, I just think having one to help with the flow (when to have dances, cut cake, etc) and to maybe get people up and moving is a good thing. If left to us, there will probably be no dancing and I worry people will be bored.

Oh, and AmyG, plans are starting to come together. We actually sat down last night and made quite a few decisions on things, which felt like a relief. I also ordered the outfits for FI and his BM, two big suitcases, and some decor item. I am feeling good that it feels like it is coming together, because there is not much the left! How are things going for you?

Hello all,

It has been a long time since I posted but was just able to catch up on all of the new threads.  My Fiancée and I was able to start on the planning document last night.  Were able to decide on 4 appetizers.  I am glad we received the info on the two locations for the reception, I wasn't aware that one of them was so close to the restaurants.

My Fiacee tells me that if they had a groomzilla show that I would be on it..

It feels good to get some stuff done, doesn't it? But I have a question- what is this planning document people keep talking about? Is it just the "wedding book" you find online, or is it something they sent you specifically? Because my wedding is in 8 weeks, and they haven't sent me anything other than the booklet.

They did send me a word document.  If you like you could send me your email address and I could send it to you.

Thank you,

I have a question, are there only two options for the reception? Beach Terrace or Tequila Terrace?  I have read a few comments saying that people thought the Beach terrace was a better option because it wasnâ€t as close to the restaurants and that the beach terrace was a better location to dance.. what is everyoneâ€s opinion?

Thank you,

Ryan

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
