Day of coordination. I came down Monday to Monday (wedding was on Saturday). I met with Anel on Monday to review everything and even change some orders (e.g., flowers). We met for about an hour and walked through everything. I also went to see her to check in on a few things throughout the week. We scheduled a rehearsal the evening before from 5:30 to 6. She totally took that over and managed everyone (Anel knows what she is doing!). On the day of, she called me throughout the day to check in. She had the flowers delivered to my room and the groom's to his room. She made sure the photographers got to us. She also organized the transportation and ensured that all of the guests were there before sending it to come get me. She then completely managed the whole processional process and then managed the event. She was invaluable and 100% on top of everything. BTW, we also asked a friend to MC the event, which was AWESOME. It made it very personal. However, even after he told everyone to leave the cocktail hour and head to the reception, it was Anel and her staff who really ushered everyone in.

Phone calls. I spoke to Anel on the phone once. I was sort of freaking out that she wasn't responding to my emails and asked her to call me. We set up a time that week, she called and we chatted for about 30 minutes just reviewing what I had submitted and that was it.

Menu. You pick from their extensive options. I picked off both the Divine and Eternity menu (paid for the Divine) and then they offered up a special gluten free vegetarian option for us when I asked for it.

Ceremony. Can't comment. We brought our own minister. We were married in the U.S. the day before we left. We did everything just like a normal wedding so unless people asked, they didn't know. My husband is Jewish so we did sign a ketubah during our ceremony.

Changes in 2014. I have no idea, but doubt it as the brochure was the same in 2013 as it was in 2012.

Customization. Absolutely. I sent in pictures of my bouquet and chuppa flowers - totally not in the brochure at all - and it was no problem. In fact, our table flowers were also not from the brochure but something another bride had done there in the past. Anel showed us a picture and we picked those. We customized the cake slightly to match with our colors but based on pictures here, I saw all sorts of different cakes.

Hope this helps! I'm still on a bit of a wedding high so happy to answer questions! ;-)

Thanks, your responses have been so very helpful!!!

It is my understanding that the bouqets/cakes can be customized....though if you want something much different(besides color) it might cost more. You choose your menu from their wedding guide. It gives you choices for each course.  That's pretty much all the help I can give. It does help to read back through this thread. Lots of good information!   I would like to know if they have any decor left over from previous brides that they let you use. I hate to drag a bunch of stuff down there...What I do take I will certainly leave!

Thank you! I contacted Anel and she sent me the updated 2014 guide, not to much looks like it has changed but good to know I am planning off the correct guide! I am hoping to send her some pics once I start putting things together of what I am hoping for as far as a customized bouquet, cake and ceremony set up to match my colors/theme as well!

I suggest you wait to send her any pics until 2-3 months before your wedding date otherwise you will end up sending it again. My wedding is in April 2014 and I wanted to get everything confirmed relating to decor by July 2013 but Anel suggested to me that I wait until January 2014 before I start sending them pics. So I have all of my pics stored away until Jan!!! LoL...

Thanks! I did get the impression that most of the planning gets done right before the wedding as far as the resort is concerned! That works for me!

Thanks!! You sound alot more prepared that myself!  I will wait till December then to send her my ideas of what my vision is for ceremony, decor and reception. Im doing a coral color theme with some gray accents. Thats about as far as I have gotton LOL. I think I found the bridesmade dresses (I will have two standing for me). Now I really need to start working on my timeline for how I would like the day to flow and decide on the reception menu!

Wow thank you for this!! Im glad I dont have to worry about Anel as she sounds fantastic as far as making the day flow together and managing the ceremony and timeline of events, sets my mind at ease a little! Do you see her much that day or is she more behind the scenes?

Im a little anxious about it all as we will be arriving on the Wednesday and getting married on the Friday! So it doesnt give me alot of time to relax before the wedding, I want to have basically everything finalized and my mind at ease before I arrive.

I am going to do the same and send detailed pictures of how I would like things customized? Was there additional charge for slight customizations like the colors for flowers and the cake?

I planning to get married a few days before as well but would like the ceremony to be traditional with the vows and signing after we say I do! I will ensure to create my own documentation for keeps :)

Did you use the resort photographer? If so how long did you book them for. I see in the divine package they are only included for the hour not long enough!

I am going to ask a friend to more less MC or lead the events during the reception as well like announcing the toasts, speeches, dance, cake cutting. I plan to have the reception pretty low key and casual as we will be a small group around 25. Did you have a large or small group?

Any other advice or suggestions you would like to share! Thank you sooo much for your review hope to see some pictures of yourspecial day!

Where did you find the bridesmaid dresses? My daughter is doing coral and gray and we can't find the right color of coral....too orange or too pink....We haven't looked very hard yet, but look around when we're out and nothing.

So I have a question...since I'm a newer member there have been a few posts where I have quoted someone and then asked my questions...and then I get a message saying since you are new we need to approve this...well when that has happened neither of them were posted?! I never get any reason or message why? And I have had a handful that have posted w/out that message? Any input or anyone experienced this? I'm just getting frustrated! Thanks!!

    • I know this is an older post, but maybe my message will help someone else.
    • While most readers have (hopefully) heard of Geoffrey Chaucer, they are probably not familiar with his exquisite rondels. And I would rank Charles d’Orleans with Chaucer as a master of the medieval form …
    • Had anyone traveled with their wedding dress on JetBlue? If so can you tell me how you did it? I leave 9/23 and I’m still lost on what I’m doing. I bought a vacuum seal bag but I’m iffy about using that. TIA
    • Hello, has anyone recently gotten married at Le kliff? so far our planning experience hasn’t been the best, does anyone have any recent experience with getting married there?
    • Hi I’m about to book my wedding and wonder if anyone has recently got married at RUI Ocho Rios? Would anyone has the prices for extras please? We are going to book the top package but we need to add extra people as we have 50 guests. we also want to have an after party after the reception - any ideas on the timings for it or prices please? We have emailed the hotel but can’t seem to get any answers until we pay deposit. Which we have just done at Bahia Principe to find out after they won’t allow us to have a reception past 9:30pm even though they said we could at a cost of $300 usd per half hour prior to booking and paying our deposit. We where prepared to pay this even thought it is very expensive plus DJ and bar costs.    we are nervous to book and pay another deposit now incase we are in the situation. We are already paying hundreds of pounds to amend our guests bookings too.    any advice is greatly appreciated please.   thanks  Sam sjpulfer18@hotmail.co.uk
