Now Sapphire Weddings Formerly Paradisus Riviera

Recommended Posts

Just got married! (1wk ago today...) Am hoping once things settle down (moving, starting back work, getting used to married life..haha) I will get to write a more detailed post about my wedding and various vendors. Plus, I'm waiting back from pics/video to give you guys some wonderful recommendations. I'm MORE than happy I had outside vendors (5! DJ Doremixx, Eventos Euforia, Jhankarlo Photography, Cinematic Riviera Maya, and CancunD), since I wasn't content with the resort at all on their services, except the waiters that served our guests, the flowers (MOH bouquet and centerpiece only) and the cake that was delish!

Meanwhile if anyone has any urgent questions, I'm more than willing to help!

janice.miriam @ gmail.com

Within the next few weeks, latest 1month I will write an actual review!!

Hi Ladies!

I've been reading your questions and thought I would chime in.

1. Don't hire the resort DJ. He is terrible. He only plays music and doesn't MC. I had to tell him to play some slow music to get the older people involved. I had to tell him to cut the music for the cake cutting, bouquet and garter toss. I had to take the mic and announce the cake cutting, bouquet toss and garter toss myself. I hired him to help keep the party going and he certainly did not. Thank God I only hired him for 2 hours, but what a waste of my $777!

2. Don't plan on going to the club to party, especially if your wedding is on Saturday night. The whole resort was rocking on Friday night. Everyone was out partying both in the lobby bar (with the live band) and in the club. Saturday night the place was dead, everyone turns in early to pack and get a good night sleep before their flights home on Sunday. This was true for the wedding guests too, fyi. Of course, if you have a large enough group you can bring the party with you wherever you go. By the end of my reception at 10:30, we were down to about 8 people out of the 33 guests we had (not much of party no matter where on the resort property you go).

Hope this helps!

The posts have been so resourceful!! Thanks everyone! Will be getting married at the Now Sapphire on May 18th, 2013! A few questions...Those that used the resort photographer, did you get to choose which photographer, or get to meet with them prior to the event? Did anyone do anything different for the rehearsal, like have a boat, etc., vs. having a sit down dinner? Would decorating with flower petals on tables be useless due to the wind?

One more month to go and I'll be in Mexico.... Was just booking the appointments for hair and makeup and found out there's only 2 hairdressers and that they dontttt wash or blow dry your hair the day of the wedding! Tis baffles me . I'm. Hairdresser and I never heard of such a thing. And also I barely can accommodate my moms and maid if honors to get their services done because there are only 2 hairdressers and I take up 2 1/2 hours with one. Advice please or any information on how it went ecttt

Gosh I know I'm going to have to read through all these posts again several times. Thank you so much ladies for leaving a gold mine of information. A question for the brides that used the resorts AV system and iPods....is there any wiggle room on the price? $150/hr is totally and completely absurd to rent their system if your operating it the whole time or even if they push a few buttons. I mind as well bring down my travel Bose system for that. Also what are the policies on bringing your own photographer as a guest? We have a family member who is a photographer and it would be just as much to fly him down there for the week and then he could capture every moment. Again, thank you to all the previous brides for leaving a wealth of knowledge.

Moderncosmo1,

I only had five girls all together (including myself) that needed to get theirhair done.  Four girls wore their hair in updos (sp?) and I wore my hair half up/half down with extensions.  We did not have an issue with getting everyone in and we all even got our make up done...how many girls do you have that need their hair done?  I was very very pleased with my hair.  The hairdresser did exactly what I showed her in pics.  No one even considered wearing their hair all down because the beach is too windy...even with a lot of hairspray, Lol.  We all just washed and blew out our hair the night before.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
