Our taxi is picking us up at 4:45 AM tomorrow and we should be at Now Sapphire around 1ish.

RFinger,

How did it go? Me and another girl on here are getting married there next weekend!  We have been looking at the forecasts for next weekend, and so far for wednesday thursday and friday there is a 60% chance of rain :-/

My questions is, how was the weather for you? I'm alittle worried. Being that I am from houston, I am used to thunderstorms and 60% chance of rain does not plant a pretty picture for my imaginations sake...

Hi craftygal,

I chose the Beach Terrace for my cocktail hour and reception.  Yes, the pool is in the other direction, but it is ot directly next to the pool.

The best way I could think to describe the setting was the pic below, lol....basically my reception was within the yellow circle.

Absolutely gorgeous at night because the pool is light up and there were no other guests around.  :-)

What location did you choose for your reception? I've been thinking about the beach terrace but there only seems to be the view looking out over the water, what is on the other side? The pool?

Thanks

That's a perfect picture. Thank you.  I'm sure I've read that you got married on the beach. Was it off the tequila terrace? I believe there is someone in the time slot before the one we're looking at. I was wondering if they were having their reception on the tequila terrace if that would effect us having the ceremony on the beach. Any thoughts on that?

PS. You're an amazing resource. Thank you so much for answering all these questions.

Before we left the same thing happened to us... The weather said it was 60% chance of rain the whole week I never said anything to Jami and just went along with it.  As the time got closer the 60% changed down to 20%.

The only time I saw rain drops while I was there was when we landed at the Cancun airport and were in the vehicle.  As soon as we arrived at the resort there was no more rain and no rain the entire time...

We had our ceremony on the beach and reception and cocktail hour on tequila terrace.  Our ceremony was at 5.  There was another wedding at 4 a little bit further down the beach but the only time we saw them was as me and the guys were walking to our location and when we were getting our pictures taken.

We actually got lucky as all 3 restaurants by the tequila terrace were closed that night so it was very private.

Hi Joda, Stunning photos! I am getting married at the Now Sapphire on July 2nd and also am having a long table. We are going to also use a burlap runner, but have not been able to get the table measurements. Did you order them yourself or did the hotel take care of that? Thank you!!

Thanks, I tried to get a pic so you could see the whole view.   :-)

Yes, I got marreid on the beach, but it was right in front of that concrete area next to my reception location (the Beach Terrace).

So basically there are two beach ceremony locations, one in front of the Beach Terrace and the other in front of the Tequila Terrace.  Depending upon which cocktail/reception location you pick that will determine which beach you would have your ceremony at.  They will allow two weddings at approx. the same times but they are not at the same locations so you don't have to worry about that.  They could have multiple ceremonies at the same location but only at different time slots.

Have you checked to see what locations for the ceremony, cocktail and reception are available for your day?

    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
