Hi everyone,

How did you all choose between the Tequila Terrace and Beach Terrace? Both look nice, but what are the pros and cons of each?

Our group is going to be between 20-30 people (no kids). I like the idea of the Beach Terrace being so close to the beach, but would it be too much space for this small of a group? Which of the two areas is more private from other people? Has anyone used the Preferred Pool area for dinner/reception? If so, could you please share some pics?!

Thanks in advance! :)

The preferred.pool area is most privated. We've chose the beach terrace and I have 35 guest coming.

Me again!

Also wondering, what did they give you for the "complimentary room upgrade" included in the Eternity or Divine Package? We want an oceanfront view, but I don't want to spend the money booking it if that's what they are going to upgrade us to for free anyway! It also says this is "based on availability" did anyone NOT receive a room upgrade because of this, if so, did they give you anything to make up for it?

Thanks!

Thanks for your response. Have you actually seen it set up? Wondering if they set up normal dinner tables, just like at the other terrace locations? May I ask why you did not choose the pool area?

How much time should I plan for hair and makeup the day of the wedding? I'm not sure what time to request appointments. Did anyone include clip in hair extensions in their wedding hairstyle? Were the stylists good?

Did anyone specify a cake design? If they decorate the cake is this extra?

They set up whatever tables you like. I chose the Beach terrace because of the beach.

We booked the oceanfront I think upgrades depend on availability. The week we get married (next week the resort is practically book)

The tequila terrace is just as close to the beach as the beach terrace.  We had our wedding on the "Tequila beach" (right in front of the Tequila Terrace) and then the reception on the tequila terrace after.  It was fantastic.  We had 19 people.

I had my nails, hair, and makeup done by the ladies at the spa.  Hair and makeup took about an hour and a half (i think...). I had Lecticia. She spoke very little English. I showed her a picture of what I wanted with my hair, and tried to communicate that I wanted it to have some volume on top. Although it wasn’t quite what the picture showed, my hair looked beautiful. It framed my face very well and I LOVED it. I wear very little makeup on a daily basis, so I was worried how it would turn out. At one point she put a little too much; I said something and she fixed it immediately. I thought it looked amazing. My mom said that it looked beautiful and I still looked like me, instead of looking overly made up. When I got back to the room I added a bit more eyeliner, and right before leaving the room a bit more mascara, but I felt gorgeous!

My three sisters and my mom also had their hair done. All three looked amazing, though not exact copies of the pictures they showed the stylist. All held up really well throughout the night too.  Bring pictures/show the ladies photos of what you want and you should be fine.

I would like to add that the ladies at the spa overall were very helpful. My sisters painted our nails while waiting for our hair, and when we asked for nail-polish remover it was provided no questions asked.

I also wanted to say that all of the cakes in the planning guide looked the same to me.  I just picked one and asked Ramon to add some flowers the same color as our centerpiece.  We had a cake topper also.  I thought it looked beautiful!

We've chosen the Tequila Terrace because we wanted a view of the ocean, plus it's just up the stairs from our ceremony location (Tequila Beach). Here is a photo of the Terrace, looking down the stairs towards the Tequila Beach ceremony location:

Tequila Terrace and Beach

We haven't had our wedding there, but we did a site visit there last week. I was tempted to move to the Preferred Pool. It is beautiful and very private. But FI wants the ocean view, which works for me, too. The other thing I liked about the Terrace is that there is a separate pergola to one side, where they set up the cocktail hour, followed by the dance floor. I really wanted to string some lights/lanterns/papel picaco, so this is the perfect spot for that. Here is a photo:

Tequila Terrace Pergola

One possible drawback to this location is that two different restaurants look into the reception area. But those people are behind glass and I guess they can stare all they want at us LOL. Plus they do occasionally close a restaurant or two and maybe we'll luck out to have one or both of these closed. A friend of mine did a couple of years ago. Here is a panoramic photo I took, so the perspective is a bit weird, and there's a lot of shadow, but you can see the windows ahead and to the right, facing the Terrace. Those are restaurants.

The Beach Terrace is nice too. It's near the pool, but probably by the time you have your reception, the pool will be quiet, and later closed. It is also close to the beach, but slightly separated from the beach by a wall about 4 feet high. I think, but can't be sure, that you wouldn't be able to see the ocean when sitting down, but it's definitely visible while standing. Photo here (pool is to the right):

Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the locations. They are all gorgeous in their own way. And I'm sure your WC will set it up best to accommodate the size of your group. Hope this helps!

LOL I totally agree. I keep looking at the cakes and most of them are basically the same, other than the colours, which you get to specify anyhow!

I have the same question! I was just asking my TA how likely we are to get upgraded because I don't want to pay to upgrade if we'll get upgraded anyhow. Plus if we did upgrade now to an Ocean Front room, we then might get upgraded to a Beach Front room, which I don't really want. They are ground level and open directly onto the beach, which is cool. But they have a jacuzzi tub that takes up half the patio and I know we will never use it.

Thank you very much for the pictures and info, it helps a lot!

For brides/guests who have already stayed here, what did you think of the beach/seaweed? The only thing holding me back from choosing this resort is the seaweed. My Fiancé is very concerned about it, as are other family members I've mentioned it to because we're from the east coast and love swimming in the ocean! I can deal with some seaweed on shore, I know they try to clean it up, but how is the actual water? Is it all over you when trying to swim? We're total beach people, don't care about pools so this is important - but it's hard to turn down this resort just over that one aspect when everything else sounds so perfect! So confused!

We are using the Tequila Terrace for our reception.  I think you really can't go wrong with either one.  I believe that the Beach Terrace is a bit bigger, I personally chose the Terrace just because I like the look of it and the set up better.  We are using the Pool Terrace for our Welcome Cocktail Party next Thursday so I will let you know how that goes :)  We leave in 6 days!!!  So Excited!!

I just got confirmation of my appointment with Juan Carlos on Monday a couple hours after I arrive to go over everything.  I happened to ask about the private transfers to and from the resort that were included in the Divine package when I booked my wedding and I'm glad I asked as they no longer offer that service.  Even though I paid my balance on the package back in December so they didn't charge me the higher 2015 price it was never mentioned that this would no longer be included.  It's ok because our group contract includs a shared van type transfer for everyone which we will just use but wanted to mention it in case any of you other 2015 brides were counting on that ride to and from the resort :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
