Now Sapphire Weddings Formerly Paradisus Riviera

@@ashlynm88 My WC did tell me that I could keep the cake for 25 people. And, actually, I've gone back in my emails with him to where I asked him for only 25 glasses of champagne. He didn't comment on it in his reply and my most recent budget from him does not show any extra, so that was my mistake in my post above. When I asked him if I could sub something for the champagne toast recently, he said no. I've heard that if you simply ask them for some of these things once on site, they are more flexible. I guess I'll find out...

Hello Ladies

I am in need of some serious help! I'm finding the flowers through the Now Sapphire resort are very pricey. I'm also from Canada so I have to convert everything to Canadian dollars which makes the resort floral arrangements even more pricey.

I've thought about making my own artificial floral arrangements? Has anyone done this? Any advice? Did your flowers make it through customs okay? Did they pack easily?

Any other ideas on what to do? Anyone have luck going with an outside vendor? Juan says I would still have to pay the $300 vendor fee? I've heard you can meet vendors outside the gates but Juan says they don't allow this anymore.

I don't know what to do! Please help!

@@banana2016 Lots of brides have done real touch bouquets and brought them with them. You should do a search in the forums to see what you find for vendor recommendations, etc. You might be able to get away with bringing real flowers in if you go into Playa to buy them and bring them back, but I don't know if you want the hassle. I think this would work better with loose flowers that you would have to arrange yourself (and supply vases, etc.) because otherwise it could still be considered using an outside vendor to have fully done bouquets, etc. Again, if you search, I think there are some recommendations for local florists. You might be able to get away with meeting a florist outside the gates, but I wouldn't tell Juan Carlos about it....

You also might want to check out the NOW Resort Brides group on FB to see what brides on that page have done in the past.

I am also wondering the same thing about the tequila terrace and not using a DJ - We have a Bose home system that is fairly loud and were going to just bring that.............$180/hr for a speaker system seems a bit pricy. We never even thought of a DJ as the reception is only 3 hours. Doesn't quite seem worth it (?)

This will be fine for you.  My husband and I did the exact same thing - we made a playlist on our phone and played it throughout dinner and reception and it worked perfectly for us.  I didn't want to pay the extra for the sound system either (2 years ago it was less -- only 150/hour).

Also to the brides questioning the price of flowers.  Is the type of flower important to you, or just the color?  I didn't care what type of flowers were in our arrangements, I just wanted them to match a certain color.  I attached pictures to my planning thread of the colors I wanted and Ramon gave me exactly what I wanted (for no additional cost to the package price).  That being said, if the type of flowers are important to you, yes, this will cost you extra.

brides who have gotten married on the tequila terrace beach area: can you tell me approx how long it took for you to walk over the terrace, down the stairs, and up the aisle? I'd like to be able to time it so I'm at the aisle during the course of my song.. if that's at all possible!

I just bought my dress (yayyy!) and it has gotten my wedding-planning brain in gear. I'm also planning on bringing a Bose speaker for music, but I wanted to ask how other brides have done their reception (or are planning on doing theirs!) - did you do the first dance/traditional stuff? Did you move to the club or a bar after the reception? 3 hours seems short, but I also hate to pay to extend it if there are other options!

Would love to hear your thoughts!

It depends on how fast you walk.  Walk slow.  Maybe a minute and a half.  The music was faded out perfectly so no worries there!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
