@@ashlynm88 That's a really pretty dress! Yeah, it's tough. I also don't want to force my girls into BM dresses that they will never use again. But we are all in different cities, so can't go shopping together. I'm thinking I will end up picking a color and telling them to get whatever dress they like from David's. At least the colors will match, they can try them on, and I can also go look at the dresses myself.

Juan Carlos is great! He is super responsive (at least compared to what seems to be the norm in that industry). I usually hear back from him within about 3 days. We did a quick site visit when we were in the area for vacation in April, so we were able to meet him in person. He's a nice guy with lots of wedding experience. He lived in one of the Carolinas (can't remember which one) for 8 years or something and worked in the wedding industry there. He's worked in catering and has training as a photographer as well!

Are there any past brides in here who had their makeup down by the resort salon? Looking for opinions! I am very good with makeup myself but like the idea of not having to mess with it, so trying to decide what to do!

@@vancouverpetunia Would you be able to post the picture Juan Carlos sent you of the included lighting at Tequila Terrace, I was wondering about that myself! :)

@@ashlynm88 I am getting married 4 May 2016! You have a large group! I only have maybe 20-30. My BM dresses are going to be turquoise and I'm also trying to find something inexpensive for them. Have you looked on Etsy? They have tons! You just order their size and color, although most of them seem to come from China, but some of the sellers' reviews are very good so they must be decent dresses!

Hi there,

I actually was shooting for 5/4 and tequila terrace and then I saw your posts on here and went into a slight panic LOL, but we really wanted to do it the first week in May since we got engaged on 4/30/15 and will be in Mexico for that anniversay....plus Cinco de Mayo is the same week, and I thought that would be an extra perk for us and our guests who stay to celebrate that too! :)

Well we didn't think we would have gotten so many initial confirmations for blocking rooms, and are definitely a little in shock haha. We will see how things turn out though by the time the booking deadlines come up and whatnot. A lot can change within the next year. I did look on Etsy, but I changed to United States only and didn't see that many to choose from. I'm so hesistant with the overseas orders and how things would turn out, but I will have to take a look a little further.

@@ashlynm88 at first I was told the tequila terrace was booked and I would have to have mine at the preferred pool, but later on my travel agent said the original couple changed their date so they booked me into that venue. I was worried at first when I didn't think I'd get the TT, but after looking at photos online, I think any location will turn out beautifully!

@@jessiker05 Here is the photo that Juan Carlos sent me. Now that I think about it, I'm not clear if there is only one light stand or multiples. And how bright is it at night? I'm planning to add some strings of fairy lights (on the railings) & globe bulbs (under the pergola), but that won't add a lot once it's actually dark out. I assume the adjacent restaurants will throw some light in the general direction, but again, not much. Hmmm....

I had my nails, hair, and makeup done by the ladies at the spa. I had Lecticia (I think!). She spoke very little English. I showed her a picture of what I wanted with my hair, and tried to communicate that I wanted it to have some volume on top. Although it wasn’t quite what the picture showed, my hair looked beautiful. It framed my face very well and I LOVED it. I wear very little makeup on a daily basis, so I was worried how it would turn out. At one point she put a little too much; I said something and she fixed it immediately. I thought it looked amazing. My mom said that it looked beautiful and I still looked like me, instead of looking overly made up. When I got back to the room I added a bit more eyeliner, and right before leaving the room a bit more mascara, but I felt gorgeous!

My three sisters and my mom also had their hair done. All three looked amazing, though not exact copies of the pictures they showed the stylist. All held up really well throughout the night too.

I would like to add that the ladies at the spa overall were very helpful. My sisters painted our nails while waiting for our hair, and when we asked for nail-polish remover it was provided no questions asked.

Hi ladies - I posted this before, but no answer. Going to try it again. Does anyone know if the resort has something to secure place cards at the tables? I don't want them blowing away and I wasn't planning on buying/bringing anything with me. Assuming they do, is there a cost? I'm starting to plan my stationery so would like to get this sorted out before I go too far down that path. Gracias!  :)

That one little lamp post, that's it?! LOL. I like the idea of string lights.. are you planning to bring your own or rent them? I wonder how much they charge for extra lighting..

Instead of place cards we had little favor boxes that we filled with chocolate kisses.  Each box had a label on it with each guests name.  No concern for it to blow over! (and it doubled as our wedding favors! -- guests also got a travel mug too, but we gave those out a few days before the wedding).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
