Now Sapphire Weddings Formerly Paradisus Riviera

Recommended Posts

Hey all! Our wedding was yesterday and I have to say that this place is so amazing!! The wedding was gorgeous, Juan Carlos is wonderful and the day was fabulous!!! I'll share more later but you have nothing to worry about ladies, this resort was the best decision we made!! Dean Sanderson was our photographer and he was the best, with Wisteria Wedding Films as our videographers who are just s pleasure and we used Disco Movil for our DJ who kept everyone dancing.

I am getting married at NOW Sapphire in October. Could someone send me the budget sheet? ashleyg280@@gmail.com

Also who has or is having their reception at the preferred pool? Does anyone have pictures? I had requested the tequila terrace but it looks like I may be stuck with the preferred pool...

@@Ashleyg280 Oh, don't say you may get "stuck" with the preferred pool. I'm actually thinking of switching my location from the Tequila Terrace to the preferred pool (too bad we are not on the same day LOL). I did a quick site visit about 3 weeks ago and, honestly, you can't go wrong with any location. They are all beautiful, just different.

I posted a few photos of our site visit here (along with some of my thoughts about the different locations):

But I didn't post the preferred pool photo, so I will do that now. Obviously not the greatest photo and not decorated for a wedding. I love the photos in one of the booklets I received from my WC.

The great thing about the preferred pool is that it is very private - the other locations, particularly tequila terrace, are not as private. Also, think about the pool being lit up at night. Really pretty!

@@vancouverpetunia I'm sure all of the locations are beautiful, I just had my heart set on the tequila terrace with the view of the ocean.  :(

Our destinatonweddings.com TA insisted on handling the resort wedding reservations, my fiancé and I asked her a week ago to make sure that we got what we had wanted before sending out our save the dates. She confirmed that it was all set, and then yesterday I get an email showing ceremony location as the beach at 5:30 pm and reception at the preferred pool. None of it was what I had asked for...and of course they are completely booked for the date so it sounds like there isn't much wiggle room.

@@Ashleyg280 Fair enough. That would be disappointing. But keep in mind that you won't be able to see the view for most of your reception, since it will be dark. Unless there is a bright moon. Sunset is around 6:30 in October. I'm surprised that you got a 5:30 ceremony time - we were told 4 was the latest (for an April date). Maybe 5:30 was already booked.

Unrelated question - Does anyone know if the resort has something to secure place cards at the tables? I don't want them blowing away and I wasn't planning on buying anything/bringing anything with me. And, assuming they do, is there a cost?

I have to disagree with VancouverPetunia.  The tequila terrace is private.  It is at the far end of the resort with no pool or beach loungers near by.  While you will have some people looking on as they walk by the ceremony, October is very low season and there will likely only be a few!  ALSO, there will be people watching if you were to be married on the beach at ANY resort.  I have friends who have gone to DWs and they have said that there were people standing directly behind the wedding couple watching the wedding the entire time.  This DID NOT happen to us at the Tequila Terrace.

The preferred pool would be the most private but there is no view of the beach.  The beach terrace is the least private, however at 5:30 most people will have moved on to start getting ready for dinner.  If this is your option I wouldn't stress too much about it.  Contact your TA, explain what you want.  If the Tequila Terrace is unavailable, see if there is another date that will work.  We had our wedding on the Tequila terrace and it was the exact vision I had for my wedding.  It was perfect!

@@DinaQtobe You are absolutely right - the Tequila Terrace is at the far end of the resort and away from the pool and beach loungers, so private in that sense. But it is in front of 2 restaurants that look onto the terrace. Since I haven't been to reception there, I'm not sure how much you notice that when you are on the terrace, but that was the non-private aspect I was thinking of. You make a good suggestion about trying a different date. Perhaps moving it to the day before or the day after will open up availability at the desired location.

Has anyone decorated the pergola at the Tequila Terrace with lights and/or papel picado? I'm trying to figure out how many feet I would need. My WC sent me the image below which shows height & width, but not the depth (which he says he doesn't have). Anyone know?

The Mexican restaurant was closed the night of our wedding.  Though the buffet restaurant looks over the tequila terrace I do not recall anyone "gawking" or even looking at us during our reception.  My husband and I faced the restaurant and didn't notice it at all.  Perhaps they did not seat people next to the window since our wedding was held that night.  I do think that the steak restaurant was open but it was a distance from our table and did not impact our dinner or reception in the least.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
