Did anyone wear heels that got married on the beach? The place I got my shoes recommended the clear plastic things to put on my heels to help not sink into the sand. Anyone use those?

Does anyone know if I bring my own decorations for the wedding gazebo if they will put them up? And do they charge? I am wanting to keep it simple and hang crystals from it. Something like this:

They will put up any decorations you want. Some things have labor charges (ie - putting on chair bows that you supplied) and some don't (ie - making your own center pieces and having them set them up. My guess is that hanging anything from the canopy would incur a charge because it requires someone going up on a ladder and such. It could become a liability issues.

Howdy! I am getting married on January 10th so its right around the corner! I have been speaking a lot with Juan so I just wanted to post my two cents.

The 2015 price has changed. I went up a few hundred bucks. They are in the middle of letting all the brides know.

As for the florist, we originally booked an outside vendor, was going to go meet them outside of the resort and I was told "if you bring in any flowers, you will be charged a $300 vendor fee" so we are just going with the resorts to avoid the stress and arguments.

I read a question on the chair, we are upgrading to the silver tiffany chairs at $10 a piece, and brining sashes with us. Juan said they would move the chairs from the beach to the preferred pool with the sashes on it for $2/chair. Much better.

I was very worried about the pool area because there are not many pictures of this location. We are getting married at 4 pm on the beach, then having pictures until 6. (I assume because the pool isn't private until then). At 6 pm we are having our cocktail hour followed by the reception at the pool. WE HIRED A DJ, so whoever was told they couldn't at the pool, things must have changed because Juan is allowing us to.

As for lighting, we don't want to pay the $900 that it costs for the Chinese lanterns, and Italian lights are $450 (which we were going to go with ) until I read "$450/strand" so I am not sure how many strands are needed. Juan said they include 2 spotlights, and he will put a little extra light by our polaroid guest book. We are also bringing some candles for the tables so I think we will be ok!

Any questions, feel free to ask now that I have the prices and some of the info! I feel so much better!

Holy cow your wedding day is almost here! When do you leave? Few questions for you.

Even though we booked our wedding with the 2014 pricing we get charged with 2015 pricing?

I booked a outside florist well before I heard that we could no longer meet at the gate. I cannot get my money back from my florist. I am not happy this was never communicated to me, everything I read was we could meet at the gate. I feel their communication is terrible with us. I would have heard we could no longer if it was not for this site. Did you cancel your florist or did you never have a outside vendor?

I absolutely understand your frustration. Hopefully since they have never told you that you cant meet outside the gate then everything will be fine. I hear you should always keep 100% of your emails for communication proof. I will let you know if I hear or see anything when I am there in 14 days!

Are you being charged 2015 pricing?

Yes, I was charged 2015 pricing, then I also got a quote for the flowers, then when they sent over the estimate it went up $25/each. So I am brining the email to prove our communication instead of trying to fight over email.

Is anyone going with the resort photographer?  We are doing the Moments package and the 25 pictures of just the ceremony is not enough.  Does anyone know if you can upgrade the package or add on without having to purchase a whole package? i.e. the $699 amber package?  Sorry I feel like I am asking so many questions! Just trying to find out here instead of driving my Travel Agent nuts!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
