How many people are you having? What are your plans for flowers and how long of a reception are you holding?

 @@jh0510038

We are expecting in the 50ish range as far as guests go, but that's based on what we're hearing from people (our STD are going out next week) thus far, not actual numbers. We invited more people than I would've liked so I'm hoping we get a lot of no's!

We are doing a one hour cocktail reception and a three hour reception, with a one hour break inbetween our ceremony and cocktail hour for pictures.

For flowers, I'm on the fence. We are making our own centerpieces (no flowers) so I need only for ceremony - bouquet, bout, corsage, canapy, etc. I'm thinking about hiring a florist to do the bouquets, bouts and corsage and applying those flowers that are included in my wedding package to the canapy. I hear that if you meet the florist at the gate, they don't charge a vendor fee and the florist I talked to only has a $200 minimum requirement.

Was he hard to communicate with before hand? like not responding to a email for a week.

I didn't have much to communicate before the wedding - I knew I was in good hands and was staying pretty well with the package with no add ons.  I sent in my planning form and information so that we could get our airport transfer - that was it. :)

After the 4 years I have been working in the area, Resorts' WC are very busy, they barely sit down in their computers for days, weddings never stops and there are more good review than bad, at the end, every business has a portage of people that will ever going to be please, so the point ism I believe the, WC, do a good job, they are just under pressure with some many things to do and some of them do more than just one wedding in one day, take into consideration! just be patience I know answering in a print way helps more and give you a state of calm :)

I want to hare some weddings, maybe my favourites I did and love from tis beautiful resort!

I wasn't planning on menu cards. My understanding from Anel is that guests need to make their dinner selection before they arrive on-site.

@@tcaurie07 We are doing the Divine package and I was told that extra people are $129/each. This includes extra chair set-up, dinner, bar service, extra cake, extra champagne, etc. etc.

The menu cards aren't for the guests to pick their meal, it's just a nice addition to each place setting that let's the guests know how many courses will be served and what they are being given since they only get to pick an entree.  They aren't necessary but I like the way they add that little something extra to the place setting and I like that they give guests information about what they are eating :)

I think I would really like to do menu cards, I think I just need better descriptions of some of the items I have picked.

I am not doing menu cards, because I think I am going with a buffet instead of a plated dinner, but I do love the look of menu cards on place settings! Has anyone else on here done a buffet for the reception instead a plated meal?  If so which one did you chose?

How many outside vendors are you all using if any?  I know for sure I am going with an outside photographer, I actually booked Octavio Montes, after doing a lot of research. His work is really great and his prices were very reasonable for the quality of pictures he takes!

I was thinking about the buffet, but I am hoping we won't have enough people for it :)  The options that Juan Carlos sent me for a buffet looked great though, I think you'd be fine with any of them.

I am using outside make-up and hair (Styling Trio) because my MOH is allergic to the makeup the resort uses, and I wanted airbrush makeup which the resort doesn't do.  I am also using an outside photographer, Dean Sanderson.  I am considering using an outside videographer but I am not sure it is really in the budget......  I know we get an hour of videography from the resort which turns into a 30 minute film.  It's not my first choice but it might be the best option right now.

Can any past brides tell us what the total cost per additional person was at your weddings?  For adults and for children??  I know it's $99 plus tax and service, but if I do the calculations, that comes to around an extra $30 per person.  I am hoping (!!!) that I am not correct.  TIA!!

I'd also be curious to hear what kinds of total cost past brides have had with weddings that had approx 55 people.  Anyone willing to share?  I know it greatly depends on extras, but a ballpark would help calm me, I think.   :)

@@tcaurie07 - that is correct - it ends of being about $129.40 w/ tax and service fees per person extra.  To save money; do not order extra cake or champagne for all your guests (just use what is in your Devine package), according to my budget sheet, that will be about $114.53 per person.  (this is saving me around $1000.00).  From reading other reviews - the cake for 25 is plenty big; and your guests can drink champagne during your open bar that you already are paying for.  :)

Our reception is ending at 10:30 too and I believe the nightclub opens somewhere between 10-11pm. If people are still up for partying, we'll continue it on over there. Who cares if it's empty? Better for you! Then it's like a private party that you're not paying for :)

Our reception ended early - like 9pm.  We went to the nightclub after and it was exactly like that!  Then it got busy and was fun also :)

Thanks for this tip! Any savings is a good thing so this is something we'll definitely factor in!

Here's the info I received from Anel:

The cost for an additional adult (over the initial 25) for the Divine package is $99 plus 16% tax and 15% service.  [/size]Breakdown is below:

·       Basic set up for the ceremony; $5 usd

·       Champagne toast at the end of the ceremony; $4 usd

·       Cocktail hour; $30 usd (this fee includes the basic set up, open bar and hor d´oeuvres)

·       Divine Menu; $53 usd (this fee includes the location rental fee, the basic set up, dinner and 3 hours open Bar)

·       Cake; $7 usd

There is a kids menu, the cost is $25 usd, The  option for them  is : Cocktail Fruit or  Tomato Soup, Chicken Fingers with Spaguetti Or Cheese Burger with Fries  and Ice Cream  or  Chocolate cake.

I booked DJ MANNIA for our wedding in Nov.  The price is as follows:

DJ service $800.00usd (4 hours) and lighted dance floor 12 x 16ft $650.00 = $1,450.00usd

Plus $300 vendor fee at the resort

Total for DJ = $1750

:(

Thanks for this breakdown for DJ costs. Really puts it into perspective

We made our appointments as soon as we had a pretty solid number of ppl who were wanting to use the salon services. They require a 24 hour cancellation so we figured as long as we had a rough number we'd be good to go. I believe we emailed the spa concierge about 4 months in advance to set up the appointments because we needed so many I wanted to be sure they would have availability.

I was initially planning on doing my own hair for the wedding (which seemed like a great idea initially until all of the days stresses hit me lol!) And last minute they fit me in and also switched around some of the girls appointments upon request. They are very flexible.

Any more questions, I will be happy to try & answer for ya :-)

Do you have the contact for the spa concierge? I want to contact them to get pricing for hair, makeup, nails, etc. so I can let my bridesmaids know. Thanks!

What florist have you talked to I am looking for more options to get quotes from also. I am having about the same number so I will have to share my experience with you!

Hi, I am also planning the same number of people :) I am getting quotes from florist and so far have contacted Lia Floral and Flores Riviera Maya. They both seem much less expensive than going through the hotel. Flores Riviera Maya has been very quick in responding to my e-mails.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
