Hi ladies, just finishing up our week at NOW! Its been fantastic! The wedding was beautiful, of course there is always a few glitches, not necessarily on the resort end. Will be home on Tuesday to tell you all about it. But yes, the meeting with Anel/Ramon clears up any changes additions, etc and they are very accommodating, we even had to change the time less than 24 hours ahead due to a flight problem and they were accommodating can't wait to share more, will do a detail summary when get back stateside!

Dina,

How curious how many choices you offered your guests for meals? Per Anel we have to make a seating chart and make sure it is clear who is getting what meal. How are you doing this? Just curious for ideas right now.

Thanks

Hi Megan,

I offered my guests the Surf and Turf or the Seafood Stuffed Chicken (no vegetarians in my party).  I only have 19 people coming so it was very easy to come up with a seating chart.  I will give a seating chart with meal choices to the wedding coordinators.  I am also going to put different colored gems on the place cards to signify meal choice.  With such few guests it was pretty easy. :)  Good Luck!

CAmomofbride:  I am so happy to hear that the wedding was a success.  I can't wait to hear more about it!

On a side note, a co-worker of mine just got back from her honeymoon at the Now Sapphire.  She loved it!  She also told me that we are able to go to the Dreams resort that is about a 5 minute walk away.  She said that the food is quite a bit better, and the pool is really nice.  This made me excited!  I can't wait, I am so excited!!!!! :D

I am using the resort photographer for the wedding ceremony.  My sister will take photos before and after.  I think what you do will really depend on how important photography is to you.  I want a few good pictures with my new husband, and ones with my family and that's it.  I know that my sister will be able to get those for us.  My parents have one wedding photo on display at home and always have only had one.  Once they had kids those photos were more important.

If your budget is a strict $1,000 I think it will be very tough to find a photographer outside of the resort for this price. This is just going from my own personal experience of course! I received quotes from 5-6 photographers in the area which were all very pricey but to me this was something very important to me and I didn't mind spending the extra money on it.

Hi past and future Brides! I'm getting married on January 20th, 2014 and while i know this is in the not too distant future i'm starting to get really frustrated with the response time from Anel and Ramon. I've been their biggest advocate of just give them time to respond because they have so many people they have to deal with on top of doing up to 3 weddings a day. But I have been writing them with the same questions for 2 months now and i'm starting to get a bit pissed off. I've been very patient but have 60 people coming now and need to know things so that i can adjust my budget. So maybe you ladies can help me out! :)

1) has anyone been waiting this long to hear back from them and has anyone HEARD from them recently?

2) does anyone know how much it is for a kids menu and the age the child needs to qualify for the kids menu?

3) does anyone know the number of guest needed to qualify for the buffet? We want to spend more of our 3 hours dancing than waiting for a plated dinner but need to know whether we need a seating chart because if we qualify for the buffet it will save us the headache of making one up ( divorced families...i don't even want to start thinking of that!)

4) Does anyone know if they have car seats or stollers on the resort that people can use if they want to do a day trip anywhere or do people have to bring their own? On the baby note...does anyone know how people can sterilize bottles while down there?

I think thats everything that i can ask to you guys right now that you might be able to help with. I appreciate all the help i can get at this point and i hope they write me back soon!! haha

Kylat- I too am getting married in January (28th) and I have sent a few emails and got nothing back for about 2 months now. I'm trying to be understanding but I too am getting very frustrated! I haven't tried Ramon tho, only Anel. We are trying to get details figured out w/our budget as well and what we can afford to do. I know for a kids dinner is $25 plus tax/service. There are a few different options for them. If you want to know just message me and I can let you know. I believe for the buffet option you need to have 50 people or more. Hopefully we hear back soon!!

Since I have not heard from Anel in over 2 months as well, I'm looking for some feedback on what people have done or are doing for a rehearsal dinner or welcome dinner? I've thought about booking at one of the restaurants of doing dinner on the beach but can't decide until I've heard from her on options? Also I'm bringing in my own photographer, do any of you know how much that costs? Thanks!!

For those that are frustrated that have not heard from Anel. She was a really bad car accident and has been out of the office recovering. I would suggest trying Ramon or emailing the resort directly as I received a quick response with an urgent question.

Good luck ladies!

We are having a small rehersal dinner at "Las Lloronas" area at the Now Sapphire - we will have to pay $25 pp, and it is a set menu. However, I rather do this than having the rehersal dinner at one of the restaurants. If you are bringing your own photographer, and he/she is staying at the Now Sapphire as a guest, there is NO fee you'd have to pay. However, if it is an external vendor, they usually charge you $350, but they tend to make exceptions for photographers, as it is an important part of the ceremony.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
