I have SO MUCH other stuff to bring, and the extra baggage fees from Canada seem ridiculously high...$20 for every kg over 66 lbs!!!   how is everyone else handling getting all of their décor items and other stuff down to mexico?

Is it less to bring an additional bag vs cramming one bag with a lot of heavy stuff?

Hi there! I'm a newlywed that lives down here in Playa Del Carmen. My friend is a great photographer and has very reasonable rates. (Around $1500 for about 8 hours of shooting) She wasn't our main photographer because we wanted her to enjoy our wedding as a guest and not have to work, but she took a few photos of us casually that turned out amazing!

Her name is Susana Hidalgo and her company is called My Adorable Bridal, http://www.myadorablebridal.com. Here's a few of the shots she took at our wedding, you can click them to see the bigger versions:

Depends on the airline, but in my experience it is always cheaper to check a second bag. Overweight fees are ridiculously high! Checking another bag is usually $20-$40. I fly with United and West Jet mostly, but check the rules on your airline's website, or ask your travel agent, if you have one.

A little trick for weighing bags at home that some may not know - weigh yourself on your scale, and then weigh yourself holding the bag. Minus your weight from the you + bag weight and you have the weight of the bag!

Thank you very much! Those aren't our professional photos, just a guest of ours who is a professional photographer down here that took them. I'm so happy she brought her camera! :)

You call the foot jewelry barefoot sandals, and these are the ones I bought: http://www.etsy.com/listing/118146078/beach-wedding-barefoot-sandals-foot

There's lots of options out there, but I found this store to be the most affordable without compromising quality. I did a LOT of research! :D

your cost sheet shows 3 hours at 150 per hour plus tax totalling $499.50.  was it only $150 on your final invoice?  if that is the case, I wont bother bringing my own sound system!

Can anyone clarify if it is in fact $150 per hour for the sound system or for the whole 3 hour reception??

I just wanted to let everyone know who hasn't heard from Anel that I heard from her today. She will still be out of the office for another week from her car accident. I was assured by a friend who got married there the planning sheet is not a final thing until you get there. She said they literally plan your wedding in an hour and know what they are doing. Anel assured me today on Facebook that she has everything down and we are good to go and will finalize everything when we get there! No worries to anyone, they will get it taken care of :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
