Thank you for all of this helpful information Amy and Tammy!

We actually heard from our TA right after I posted this yesterday and he got us a deal for airfare, tax includ. and hotel stay for 7 nights at $2959/couple which = $1479.50/person

Is that a good deal in terms of what all you other brides/groom(s) got negotiated for your trips?

We have not been in touch with the WC yet (other than me just emailed an inquiry and Anel responded) but will be in the coming weeks I'm sure.

Where have any/all of you had/plan to have your receptions at the resort? Jess (my fiance) and I both feel in love with the pictures we have seen of that outside deck area (I think it's a restaraunt) for a possible reception, though we fear something like that, for 30-40 people will severly increase our budget we want to spend on this wedding (actually "ceremony" as we will be officially married here in front of a JP just so all of our information is the same when my fiance gets her passport).

What all were you able to negotiate price-wise for your wedding/future wedding?

Thanks again everyone for the helpful tips!

Hi Thomas,

It really depends on where you are flying out of.  I know that our travel agent didn't really book our flights people just booked their own.  She was able to get us a good rate on the rooms and was able to get 1 free room per 5 booked.  I went with a TA with Wright Travel Agency and she sends me updates when people book and has taken care of everything.

Thanks RF - we arent going until NEXT summer, so it is quite some time away, but our TA said he got us a "guesstimate" on the hotel and airfare. for everything per person its going to be just under 1500....is that around what you're paying (if you dont mind me asking)

We're flying out of Pittsburgh - we have my fiances uncle with his wife and daughter caomnig from vegas and also my fiances best friend out of arizona but other than that we're all from Pittsburgh

Hey ThomasK,

I did the same as RFinger and guests got their airline reservations on their own, especially since a lot were coming from different cities.

I was also given an 'estimate' for airfare and it was about $300 off of what I actually paid....it was off not in my favor  :-( ....so beware that airline rates are going to be unpredictable and there is No Way a travel agent can predict it now since they are not available yet and since your guests are going to book their flights at all different times.

As far as the resort, my guests are payng $172/night (that is tax included and transfers from the airport to resort and back).  I am not sure if that is considered a good deal or not compared to other people on here that are going but I was happy with the rates and my guests haven't seemed to complain.

If you buy one of their wedding packages...the Eternity or Divine....then you will have a lot included in your wedding up to 25 guests (and then you just pay the difference for the rest of them).

I am having my ceremony on the beach and cocktail hour and reception on the Beach terrace (the concrete area in between the pool and the beach).  The Tequila Terrace is what I think you are referring to and that seems to be a lovely location as well.  :-)

I have not done any 'negotiations' for our wedding.  I sent in all my documents to the wedding planner, Anel, and I am just waiting to hear back from her and possibly we can work out a few things but overall I am pleased with what I am getting for the cost I am paying.

depends on where you are flying from, travel dates, etc...there are many variables that can affect the rates

you  rockon.giffor using WTA!

RFinger is right though.  some people want to book a package and be done with it.  others want some flexibility and are only ready to book rooms or they want to use frequent flier miles for airfare.  Usually a TA will work with you to figure out what is the best way to book you and your guests.

Single: $516 for 3 nights; $160 each additional night

Double: $403 pp for 3 nights; $123 pp each additional night

Triple: $393 pp for 3 nights; $119 pp each additional night

Children 3 - 12: $185 for  3 nights; $50 each additional night

this isn't 100% true.  Yes, sometimes Dreams runs Children Free promos but they have restrictions and blackout dates so they do not apply all year round.  Usually it is only valid from mid-august to december.  I do not think it has been extended for 2013 yet.

this is from the agent site:

Quote:

2012

The 2012 Kids Stay Free is valid on all new reservations made at Now Resorts & Spas for travel from August 18, 2012 through December 21, 2012.

This offer can be combined with other discounts or offers, with the exception of group's promotions. Blackout dates and holiday restrictions may apply. Kids free promotion is subject to availability and can modified at any time. Advance reservations are required and can be made through leading travel professionals.

Restrictions and blackout dates may apply. This entire offer is based on availability and can be modified at any time.

My guests are paying just about the same price as what your quoted just about 100$ cheaper and that includes also round trip transfers to the hotel from airport. I'm getting married in october cocktail hr at tequila terrace love the wooden decking and being so close to the water and dinner/reception at the same location

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
